Life always seemed to speed up when death was upon your doorstep. How could it not? People can't control it. They can tinker with it, maybe try and give it a nice kick into gear; because that's all you can do with death. You can hurry it up in any way you want it to be but it doesn't get forced. You, yourself cannot control death and that's the funny thing about this entire training process. You try and gain the skills of what can prevent and cause death ; fire making, archery, sword mastery, edible and medicinal plants. You have all sorts of ways to try and contribute to the process of death. But you can't control it yourself.
You can control what you do or make; like fire or food. You could make drugs if you wanted to - which, the (one of many) district four male that I found myself watching seemed to follow. During my time at the career academy in two, I for sure got my own knowledge of drugs. Hell; medicinal plants?? Who wouldn't try and take a whack at drugs? It was your free opportunity to transfer yourself away from the world that was out to kill you.
Who wouldn't try and escape from that?
I kept silent, because speaking made everything feel worse. Watching spoke more than talking, in my mind.[ firestorm ]
