For a second I thought I might live. I was attacking
whoever I could at the moment. First I attacked the
boy from four. A bulky guy, but I didn't think he was
fast. I swung, but he dodged it. Then he thrusted
his spear at me. I didn't expect it to go that fast. I
did the best I could at the moment. I swung my head
back as fast as I could, but it didn't stop the spear
from leaving a nasty cut on my cheek. That is when
I thought I was going to die. My vision was going
blurry. I then felt a sharp pain on my arm and hip.
The allied pair from 12 and 7 cut me. I swung at
the kid from 12, hitting his armour and bruising
his shin. He then hit back with his sword cutting
deep into my chest.
I then realised that I was going to die. It was my
time to go. The boy from 7 came out of nowhere
and hit me with his axe, cutting deeper in my
chest. I fell to the ground. I tried to move my hand
to cover the wound, but it wouldn't budge. Blood
moved up my throat and I coughed it up, blood
clogging up my throat and spewing out of my chest
and mouth. This was the end of the line. I wished
I hadn't volunteered, and maybe I would still be
alive right now. I might be in school learning,
instead of fighting to the death.
I didn't even get to say goodbye to my parents
before I got onto the train that sent me to my
death. That one time I saw a glimpse of them
before I headed off to the reaping, in which I
volunteered. That was the last I got to see them.
My vision was almost clouded by a strange
white light. "I wish I got to spend more
time with you, mum and dad." I then tried
to spit out the words, "I love yo-" Then the white
light clouded my vision altogether.
BOOM!
The cannon for Pollux Cree went off at that minute.
Her parents watched in terror as the life faded from
their daughter's eyes. Her mum was crying into the
shoulder of her husband, and the husband stared at
the screen and said, "I'm sorry that we were never
there for you Pollux, you deserved better."
