Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.
The first breath of the breeze is but a sigh. Easy to miss, the hush of warning spreads far and wide... to no avail. Sleepyheads do not stir and eyes wide open, staring in horror at the faces swirling upon the night sky, do not blink. As the wind rises into a gale, the roses rise with it. Petals take flight, pulled free and swallowed up by the sky, blinding as red blurs with white and everything becomes as pink and your wounds. The sun rises and brightens the Arena, but the storm of rose petals does not settle. Both tributes and the creatures who call this strange land seek shelter — behind the closed doors of the mansion or running, sightless and scared, until they reach the perpetual calm of the Salt Flats, where the water acts as if it is untouchable.
If only you could be untouchable too.
