Larceny Theft
Life seems simplistic at first, breathe to keep a heart beating. However, with each slipping second after birth complexities converge upon this simple style of living. Now one has to breathe to keep a heart beating, think of the right words to say, and choose the right actions to take simultaneously. Every action has an equal opposite reaction, or so it is taught within the halls of humanity's educators. Carrying on with a heart beat no longer requires the same pure process it began with. Each day brings a new test, a new trail, one in which a person must determine how to pass or fall into the fierce fires of failure. So then the question is: Is life simple? In actuality in its most precious state it is, but within the sickening shackles of society it is twisted and turned into a maze of unimaginable confusion. A maze every person must run. A maze different for every individual heart beat.
The night was nearly dwindling into the draw of dawn when as silent as shadows two figures fell from a window into the factory. Black as the fur of a rat, their hoods hovered over their faces. In the distance a single shape exited the building to swap shifts with another guard, an opening was produced in that instant. Fast as flickering flames the figures flashed across the floors their footsteps silently skidded over stacks of steel. Fingers furiously fumbled with a locked door until a single sound quiet as the hoot of an owl rolled over the expansive room. Sinister smiles spilled across their shadowed faces, and into the room they went.
Mounds of money and various valuables found themselves shoved swiftly into the sacks each shadow swung in its arms. Only the sound of a tediously ticking stop watch was all that could be heard while the vultures feasted upon their carrion. A single flick of a finger stopped the watch from ringing while a young boy's voice, innocent as angel's shattered the near silent state. "Next shift is coming in a minute." The fellow shadow nodded and fled ahead of the boy who followed fast. Once outside a lock is secured by the second thief as though their gloved fingers had never felt its chilling caress.
Fast like the rats of their color they scurried through the steel stacks and out the window a silent shudder shutting behind them. Success! Now they just had to maneuver through the city without being sighted. Another smile slipped onto the boy's face. "That's a new record, now lets not blow it by being caught."
