Taffeta Mauve | d1 | 17
Taffeta. The famous lustrous silk fabric used by designers all over the district 1, and of course the capitol. It's a name that's very suited for a girl with the upbringing and heritage as her. Her father was a jeweler whose fine goods were taken right to the capitol, and her mother was a fashion designer whose works were worn by the wealthiest socialites around. The product of their half-real-half-celebrity love was Taffeta Mauve, whom from the moment she was born assigned an entire fate.
It's only natural for a girl like Taffeta to be a career, hell her father before her has been trained as a career before failing to be reaped. The genes of a warrior, even a failed one, were still in her and with the wealth her parents supplied, surely there could be no stopping her. Her parents loved to joke that Taffeta was not only named after the fabric but for how easy it would be to tear through her opponents, just like it's fabric through a shear.
Except Taffeta Mauve is no warrior.
She's just a girl. Sure, she's more than 'just a girl' but of all the things she is, a blood thirsty ruthless tribute is not one. Instead she's a bit of a fashionista with an eccentric streak and love for anything fun or crazy. Not only is she physically not your ideal career but in fact she's weak and scrawny spite her training. Hell, she even has an extreme fear of blood, as you can imagine that's caused quite the amount of issues with her training.
Taffeta is anything except whose shes supposed to be. She was supposed to be a career who wins fame for her family through either living and becoming a legend or dying gloriously. She wasn't supposed to be a scaredy cat who just wants to be a designer like her mother. Her entire life revolves around the expectations everyone has put on her but she fails to follow through with. The result of that is a girl scared to accept responsibilities and hates herself for her own failings.
Still yet Taffeta tries her best because somehow she believes one day she can become the girl she dreams of being. She can't quite suppress her more natural sociable, eccentric side but she can at least try her best to put on some kind of act where she continues to attend training like she's some happy yet brutal girl. Everyone loves a good persona like that, right? It doesn't even matter if it sticks or not all Taffeta cares about is trying to make it pass for reality. Hopefully no one sees through the thin disguise.
Although the biggest flaw in her little plan is her own appearance. Taffeta is naturally small anyways, taking far more after her mother than her father in almost every aspect. She's overwhelmingly feminine in her appearance, with her long light chocolate-colored hair usually done up in some fun hairdo and her big expressive eyes. Those eyes are only framed by her thick girlish glasses. She's so poppy appearing that it's almost overwhelming yet she still tries to use this to her advantage with her upbeat-yet-savage act.
Taffeta tries to cover up her lackluster body by hiding under thicker clothing like sweaters and such but when she can she wears frilly outfits and dresses in all sorts of bright colors. Her mother being a designer pays off in that respect, but still her worry of not meeting expectations manages to creep into every interaction Taffeta has with either her mother or father.
Still, Taffeta does love her parents spite any pressure she faces from them. While much more similar to her mother both in personality in interests, Taffeta tends to spend more time around her father due to her mother's work load. It's because she loves them all so dearly that she fears even stepping a hair out of line and disappointing them. That's what she really fears, disappointing others being the people-pleaser she is.
Spite it all, Taffeta still imagines a future for herself beyond her current fate and beyond her fake career persona. She imagines a life for herself where she's a designer, working along with people like her mother and free from having to act like someone else. How will she get to that future though? She has no clue, but Taffeta Mauve intends on taking it one day at a time.
