If you ever feel like I do when you slip between cracks, maybe then I'll see why nothing stays intact
For all of my life the metal, prong-like springs in my mattress have jutted into my back keeping my eyelids from closing- tonight is no different. If my body is still enough for a long period of time the pain becomes ignorable and I will succumb to my fatigue, but countless hours of twiddling thumbs become tedious, even if I am truly doing nothing. This won't be another night letting my mind wander for hours as I struggle to let sleep take me. Tonight my body will wander as well.
A black tank top which hangs loosely on my torso and a pair of black skinny jeans that constrict my legs are a typical summertime outfit of choice of mine and once again tonight is no different.Almost like an assassin, I carefully sneak through my house avoiding all the creaky floorboards which I can recognize as if it were the back of my hand. Both my parents are sound asleep right now, and probably believe that I am as well, however they are far from the truth in that regard, as they rest peacefully in each other's arms after a long day's work, it is my turn to travel into the depths of the night.
From a young age, my parents often called me 'nature boy' due to my fondness of the outdoors. The landscapes full of skyscraper height oak trees for miles until the human eye can no longer see are some of the most perfect sights in the world, and I am fortunate enough to live only minutes away from such beauty. The twilight darkness only adds to the awe-striking view by creating a shroud of an enigma that looms overhead that is truly mysterious. This land of mystery is where I can hide from the world and these nights here are the ones that I can truly reflect on anything in the world.
My boots stomp loudly in the silence of the evergreen forest sending soundwaves in every which direction. The cool breeze in the air blows then subsides, each gust tickling my skin causing goose bumps to form up and down my arms.Suddenly, a hear a snap of a twig on the ground, and I turn to expect an animal and yell 'shoo!' to scare it away. The area maintains an empty silence as nothing moves and there is no longer a breeze to soothe me. A figure emerges from the shadows, but it is still too dark to see if I recognize the human.
No one is ever out here.
"Who is there?" I call out.
No response.
"Who is there?" I shout out again this time with worry audible in my voice.[/font][/blockquote][/span]
