Rollo Hammerfell Forty-Seven | Male | District Two |
Standing on the stage, I stare into the crowd wondering what it felt like when my sons stood on the stage before heading to their end. I wanted a career life. I have my own place to train people. I wanted this life, and maybe it can help me hold the life of a perfect mayor. Clearing my throat, I allow myself to speak letting everyone know exactly what I stand for.
"Like many here in district two, growing up, I trained for the hunger games. I spent my time inside the training academy's learning, and improving, but my time for the games never came. And once I was older, I wasn't even sure what to do with my life. I didn't have the skills and assets needed to get a job. All I knew was a life of fighting, a life of being a career, and ultimately a life of disappointment."
I pause long enough to clear my throat.
"I know what the district needs. It needs training for skills that can be used for the future. If someone wanted to train in an area other than fighting, as mayor I would make sure that's possible. If someone wanted to become a healer, I would find people working in that field to train those individuals. Life is more than just training for the hunger games. As a father, I have watched my sons venture into the arena. They had that blood lust, and I supported their every decision. As mayor, I'll make sure each and every individual in district two had options, and I would support their decisions regardless of what it is."
I take another breath before looking around.
"I'll make sure more people are given jobs. I'll make sure every person has a chance of life. I'll open more training centers for those who wish to train for the games, and I'll open more private ones for those who wish to train for a field they wish to work in. This is about the people. It's about helping you all the same way I have helped my family."
I take one last breath, and I fold my hands together.
"As mayor, I'll give everyone an opportunity, and I'll make sure each citizen has a voice that is heard. Because in the end, the only way to succeed is to work together, and that is my ultimate goal. We are more than just careers."
A half grin twists across my face as I turn away from the podium.
"Thank you."
