Lucas Prizemni

Lucas, despite being a rough, tough and strict career trainer, was still a kind man. He enjoyed being around people, and not just his family. Yes, he loved his family dearly, but he also was satisfied socializing with others. Deciding to run for mayor was an easy choice for him, too. He wanted to be able to get to know the people, and let them get to know him. Lucas always wanted to get himself out there, and now he finally could.

Deciding that he best dress nicely every day the he was campaigning, that's exactly what he did. Despite the hot weather and his desire to just wear shorts and a t-shirt, he didn't. Lucas felt that he needed to look good, and he wouldn't let the weather change that. Now he just had to hope he didn't sweat through his clothes, as that would definitely ruin the look. He hoped for the best, and headed out of the house that morning. He wasn't going to campaign too much today, as he just wanted to get to know the people of the District.

As he was walking, he came across someone who was certainly younger than him, but he still felt he could interact with. When they got closer to one another as he walked, he stopped to greet them. "Hello! How're you?" he asked politely. Hoping he would end up with a positive response, Lucas gave a smile. He also wondered if either of his daughters knew this person, but knew that wasn't what he should bring up. If anything, even though he wanted the public to know him personally, he didn't feel that he should push it onto people.

Would either of his daughters have been a good idea to bring with him, just to show the people of District One that he was a family man? Perhaps not, or perhaps so. Regardless, he was on his own this morning, so he had to impress people by his own accord.

Most of my time is spent away from my family now. Mother and father don't care that I returned home from the Olympics with gold medals because they want more from me. They want me to train for the games, but why should I live their life? This is my life, and as long as I'm helping the injured people of district one, it doesn't matter to me. But to them, I'm not good enough. Never good enough. Renegade has the mindset they want, she has the prize they wear. I wish it made more sense, however, I'm on my own trying to climb to the top. I know that once I'm old enough, I want to open my own business as a healer and help those who are less fortunate than me.

Which is why I'm walking down the streets today searching through abandon buildings. One of them will hold the key to my future. A chance to call myself home. A chance to rebuild something my family ruined for me. Don't get me wrong, I love them all more than anyone knows, and nothing will change that. Nothing will stop it. They are my life, and one day I want them to realize that my dreams, my desires, my ambitions are what pushes me forward. Not everyone can enter the hunger games. Only a few hold the title of victor. That's not for me; the only way I'll ever enter the hunger games is if the escort pulls my name from the bowl, and nobody volunteers to save me.

Turning a corner, I look around, blue eyes darting back and forth scanning the buildings. One day I will own one of these. One day I'll help people who have parents like mine. I'll show them it's okay to make their own decisions, to travel down their own paths. I'll mentor those who need a place to escape and maybe make a difference.

"Hello! How're you?"

A man's voice rings through the air, and I stop in my tracks. Every hair stands on end. Spinning around, I see him standing. A tall, older man, and I think I recognize him as one of the mayor candidates. For a moment, my gaze shoots towards the ground - is he going to put me down just like my family? Did my parents send him after me? To make me change my ways? If that's the case, they have another thing coming.

Inhaling a sharp deep breath, I lock my eyes on his, craning my neck to see him, "Hi. I'm great, thanks for asking." I pause unsure of how to continue on, "And you?"

It's only right to be polite.
