He never learned to trust himself, house full of cobwebs and he holds his breath to not stick spiders in his lungs. A boy raised through kindle wood and fires, forged of forgotten forests and life lines; he never pretended to be. Baphilda held his hand, in a way that made his stomach drop --

"You live on the streets."

"What about it?"

There was never a life before it. 

Parents lost in a fire, two siblings lost between two different orphanages- he swore he would never leave his side. And he never lied. So Sylvester held his breath, kicking through rat gutters and broken tiles, hunting down a lost twin who never wanted to be found. A brother who never promised the same broken wings. 

"I could hire you, y'know."

And some kids never learned when to give up.
