Euphoria, it comes in many sweet forms.
I spent my childhood searching for it, scraping my knees and elbows against asphalt in a neverending search to quench the thirst in my veins. At five I called it adventure, telling myself pirates didn't cry whenever I scraped my knee and at seven telling myself victors didn't cry when I knocked my head. I didn't care for the falsified glory but I lived for the fantasy. Fourteen and I found a way to merge the reality with the fantasy, hiding gunshots in my coat pocket and never looking back since I smoked that first joint.
Seventeen years old and I still don't care much for the adventure but thirst for the fantasy, thirst for the many seconds, minutes, hours of euphoria I can get. Five days searching and here I stand, gear resting in my trouser pocket (needed lighter and all) as I watch the stars. I like it up here, the furthest away I can get from reality without rotting my lungs away.
It'll be nice to watch reality fade behind fantasy.
So I roll my neck and click my steady fingers, taking it in my mouth and hovering the lighter just in front of it. But before I can summon the flames of the pheonix I catch the sound of footsteps on the edge of my hearing. "Fucking hell, if you want a hit you've just gotta ask man."
Euphoria, it brings out the best and the worst I suppose.
