Work ; it was the one thing he knew how to do well in the district without becoming a burden on others. He had finally became his own man in the process as he succeeded at getting away from the two people that threatened to hold him down for eternity. It was rare that he allowed himself to think of a time before now as the past was where all his scars had come from, but even as he looked in the mirrors to see his flaws, he still refused to give them credit. They may have broken him into something unrecognizable at one time, but he had built himself up into someone that could cause waves of a difference to those that mattered.
Thanos had struggled this morning with the preparations for breakfast when his siblings started pouring into the small corner of the living space they used to eat. His struggle was their joy as food in general was looked at as if it were gold spewing from the ground, and they ignored the lack of preparation as they knew everything he did for them. For him though, he saw sleepy faces that just wanted to eat, and this is where his true struggle lied. He could not declare himself to be the best guardian to them because he still did not provide everything with ease as others did. He was forced to work hours longer than he had promised them and right when he felt he was about to break down; the youngest of them all gave him a soft kiss on the cheek with a whispered 'thank you'.
These moments were what he was working for, and it was such a simple gesture that he still felt a few tears run down his cheeks. "Thank you for that." It was all he could muster up to say before a buzz from the table signaled it was time for work. "Take care of each other and do not go too far away from the house. Got it?" They nodded their heads in agreement before he rushed out the door with a single piece of toast between his lips. The hospital was not that far of a trip for him to make, but he still refused to be anything other than on time for every shift.
His shifts were fortunately back in a normal cycle as he had been volunteering for nights to get a little extra cash in his pocket. He was still making improvements to the home he purchased a few months back and trying to make it a place of escape for his siblings. However, Thanos had missed the sun and being able to actual have a life outside of work. The few people he knew at the hospital giving him updates on things he had missed during the change, causing the first half of his day to fly by before lunch crept up on him.
Lunch was usually eaten somewhere within the hospital, but the day was too beautiful to stay inside longer than he had to. The sun was too bright to ignore as his head fell back to take in the warm rays it provided. He would have walked around the district to enjoy it further if he hadn't caught sight of Isaiah sitting alone with his head in his hands. The two had somewhat of a similar past, which created easy conversation for them both when they actually had a chance to talk. He quickened his pace with a skip up onto the bench of the table before sliding into Isaiah gently.
"You about to fall asleep during our break?" Thanos asked before catching the large circles up his friend's eyes, sighing to himself before pulling out his food. "Wanna talk about it? Vent? You know I don't mind. I have been proven to be a great listener." He wanted to say more; provided some comic relief to their day. He stopped himself though because the circles were becoming an every day accessory for Isaiah, and he wanted to at least provide some sort of foundation for his friend.
