The bloodbath was significantly less ‘bloody’ than Lorenza had initially expected it to be. She only heard two cannons upon its conclusion, and she truly didn’t care who they were. After all, she’d escaped completely unscathed, and didn’t have anyone else to worry about, either. The young woman had retrieved a weapon from the cornucopia. Unfortunately, however, she wasn’t willing to stay long enough to obtain a bag of any sort. She was too nervous that she’d be attacked or killed.
Za-Za had managed to make her way away from the Cornucopia and over to a different portion of the arena where she settled herself down. She’d made it to a beautiful waterfall and decided to conceal herself there the best that she possibly could. It was surprisingly stunning, and it disappointed Lorenza just a bit more that it was all just created by the Gamemakers. It was unlikely that any of it was naturally there. Regardless, she knew she shouldn’t be too concerned about the scenery in a death match.
As the girl was trying to plan on what her next move should be, a silver colored parachute descended from the artificial sky. Attached to it was a backpack of a light, baby pink color; just her style, and rather functional. She knew then that the people of the Capitol must at least like her a little bit, as she’d been sponsored something by them. Lorenza was grateful for this, as it meant she had more of a chance of getting home alive. She wanted to return to her family and to Rena more than anything she could ever think of.
Lorenza’s delicate fingers caressed the necklace she was wearing. She thought about the happenings in the Justice Building where Renaissance had so generously given the piece of jewelry to her. It was stunningly beautiful and it was also the first thing Rena had ever stolen, which certainly meant that it was special to her. She couldn’t get her mind off of Renaissance, even had she wanted to. Therefore, she sat there in thought for a little while, wondering what her family and girlfriend were thinking as this all happened. Was she proud of Lorenza so far, or did she think that she should have tried harder?
While sitting near the waterfall, Lorenza began to run her fingers over the smooth, damp pebbles that were there. She picked up one pebble in particular that resembled the shape of a heart, and began to move it around in her hands with a smile on her face. Looking at it for a moment, she continued to think about home. Moments later, however, she felt a surge of anger through her veins. Should she have told Luanna to volunteer instead? They were best friends, and it was something Luanna always had wanted to do; go into the Games. Though, could she really have let someone take her place and possibly die instead?
She tried to shake the thought from her mind, but couldn’t, and angrily sent the pebble tumbling into the stream of the waterfall.
