Appearance: Aloe is a lean and skinny girl, with grey seam eyes and dark brown hair. Living in the Seam, she has never been well fed her whole life, as you can see her hollow cheekbones and rib cage. Despite that, she is not as skinny as the other girls in the Seam. She is average height, being 5'6. She always wishes she looked more like the girls in District 1 and 2, watching them every year in the Hunger Games. Once she tried curling her hair by stealing a metal rod and heating it up by the fire, but she ended up burning her hair off. Even though she thinks she is ugly, her parents and her friends tell her that she could look like the one of the girls in District 1. She thinks they are lying to her and are just trying to make her feel better about herself.
Aloe is quick on her feet and stealthy. She can sneak around without making any noise. Unlike the rest of her family she is bad with her hands. While her family sews clothes, she sits around knowing she would fail miserably. Her family owns a goat, which she milks everyday, so her mother can make butter and cheese from it to trade in exchange for thread and fabric.
Personality: Aloe is shy and sweet, but can be fierce and feisty when she wants. She usually keeps to herself, and has a few friends at school. She can easily win over people and persuade them to do what she wants. She can also be demanding at times. Sometimes she is sweet and kind, but she can be quick-tempered and will hold a grudge if she has to. She sometimes gets annoyed and frustrated easily which is a big flaw of hers. When she gets angry she ignores everyone until she calms down. She works well under pressure but can get really stressed which causes her to get frustrated and angry.
Aloe is determined and works hard for what she wants. She will act fake if she has to, especially when she is trading to get a good deal. She can also make people feel sorry for her really easily since she is small and is always seen as a shy and sweet little girl. She prefers to work by herself and will get worked up if she has to cooperate with other people to get something done. Aloe can be bossy, but is a natural leader.
History: Aloe is the youngest out of her family, as she has one 18 year old brother called River who nearly got arrested for stealing when he was 16, but the Peacekeepers found out they had wrongly accused River, so they let him go. Aloe's mother stays at home to make clothes to sell, while her father works in the coal mines, as well as River. Aloe attends school everyday where they teach you about the Capitol and try to brainwash you. But she knows it's all lies so she usually sits around all day, not paying attention, since she thinks education is useless in district 12 anyway.
Her grandfather was once in the 16th Hunger Games, but died on the third day. Since she loves animals, for her 12th birthday, River got her a cat which he found in a garbage dump. Aloe named the cat Tiger, because of it's fiery orange fur and black stripes. Both her and River had to sign up for tessarae to keep their family alive. She thought it was ridiculous that to not starve you had to have your name in for the Reaping more times. The grain and oil usually came late and the grain was usually spoiled by the time. Aloe hated the Capitol and President Snow for it. She usually rolled her eyes at the thought. When she was little, she would talk about how she hated the Games and hated President Snow. Her mother scolded her for it and she had learnt to keep her mouth shut since then. When she was twelve her brother had shown her how to throw a knife, in case she was reaped for the Games.
Aloe had also nearly been arrested once when she was 13 for accidentally throwing a knife at a man, so River had to bribe the Peacekeepers with money. Aloe used to go through the fence with River to find edible plants and berries, since River said it was too dangerous to hunt for animals in case they got caught. He said that plants and berries were easy to hide and the Peacekeepers didn't care about sneaking through the fence too much, some of the Peacekeepers even bought strawberries and blackberries from them. Aloe had always longed to have fresh meat and go hunting, but River had told her not to and she never did. Meat was a luxury for them and the only time she had fresh meat was when River brought some back for Mother's birthday.
