The pavement beneath her was cool to the touch Her fingers explored the rough surface, dancing over stone, gliding between cracks. Some night say it felt rough like sandpaper, edges biting into her flesh, trying to beak skin. She enjoyed the way it felt, the way it reminded her that she was not immortal that her body could be broken. Not that she needed much of a reminder. She had many reminders over the course of one day.
Her eyes examine the sky above her. It was painted with many colours, colours that weaved into one another, like interlacing fingers. They danced around the rising sun, with every moment changing until the sky was no longer the image painted on the back of her eye lids- but a new painting, with fresh colours. It always amazed her just how quickly it could change, in the matter of moments, and if you weren't watching closely, you could miss so much, so many breathtaking views.
Her father often told her that she wasted so much time concentrating on small useless things such as this, when her mind should be focused on more important things such as running the household... But she didn't want to have any part in that. Even just the thought made the corner of her eyes crinkle, the start of a frown forming. Her father never really understood- or maybe it was just that he simply didn't care- how important it was to her to enjoy the small things such as this. If she was really honest with herself, she never really understood why she had such a desire to watch things such as the ball of light crept into the sky, making it presence known.
Slowly her eyes began to close, the morning light of the sun making it almost impossible for the girl to keep them open. Her breathing started to even and her mind started to wander. It wasn't before long she found herself drifting into a slumber. Her small body hugged gentle by the breeze, the runs rays caressing her face she begun to dream.
