lorenza aita.
Clothes on once more, Lorenza escaped her fight. As night fell, she discovered a few small boats, and began dragging one behind her, which was engraved with the name ‘Klaus’. Surely this would come in handy later. When she finally found a place to rest for the night, the anthem began. Two faces appeared in the sky, and the first one sent chills down her spine. It was Basil Isley; the girl that she’d murdered in the midst of a fight. Lorenza tried to shake the thought from her head, but she couldn’t. She killed her, and nothing would change that.
The next face was Rhetoric Anadiplosis. Lorenza had never met her, but was still disappointed to see another tribute gone. Death was unavoidable in the Hunger Games. Perhaps she would even have to face it herself at some point. If not, she’d be a killer once more. Which was the better option?
Lorenza had made her way away from the waterfall and hot springs, and over to the beach. Her backpack full of newly obtained items, she was just hoping that she wouldn’t have to fight anyone again today. The fact that she killed Basil was still haunting her. It was a victory, sure, but she still felt guilt. It just wasn’t a good feeling to kill a person, at least not for Lorenza Aita. The blood still stained her weapon that she carried with her, and she knew it wouldn’t be going away anytime soon unless she cleaned it off on her own accord.
Upon her arrival at the beach, however, something unexpected occurred. A large creature that Lorenza recognizes as a whale of some sort, breeches and sends a giant wave tumbling over the beach. At first, Lorenza doesn’t mind the water, until she starts to feel a bit of pain. There are small creatures- krill- latching onto her skin and inflicting said pain. She tries her best to shake them off, and is just grateful that she had put her clothes back on before this point in time. When the krill were finally gone, no longer attached to her, she took a seat in the sand, removed her backpack, and took out the shovel and pail set that had been sponsored to her.
She’d never really had the opportunity to play in the sand when she was younger. It was a nice thing to do, she soon learned. Sitting there for a while, she even built a small sandcastle in that amount of time. Quite proud of it, Lorenza called it ‘The Fortress’. The Fortress was rather well constructed, and she assumed that if someone were small enough, they may even have the desire to reside in it. There was a small moat around it, too. It was rather pleasing to the eye, for a sandcastle.
Sitting in the sand, Lorenza spotted something out of the corner of her eye that must have washed in with the large wave earlier on. It was a very small whale, which looked like it could fit into someone’s pocket. She stood up, deciding to approach it. A smile on her face, she spoke to it.
“Hey there little one,” she cooed. “You’re quite cute. Would you like to come with me?” She asked this as she lifted it out of the sand. It was quite adorable, and looked like it wanted to come along. She placed it into one of her pockets, and it cuddled up inside. The smile remained on her face, glad she’d found a friend in such a place, even though it wasn’t human. Perhaps it was a good thing that it wasn’t human.
Walking back over to her sandcastle, Lorenza set her pocket whale in the little moat that was around it. The creature seemed to enjoy it, and she laughed at it splashed about. As time passed, it eventually appeared that the Pocket Whale wanted to go back into the coziness of Lorenza’s pocket, and she welcomed it to do such.
“You need a name, don’t you, little guy?” she spoke to it, although she knew it couldn’t answer her. Thinking for a moment, Lorenza eventually came up with something. She would name it after her brother, Angelo. She could remember the day he died. Perhaps this Pocket Whale, which was as adorable as he had been, would be a good way to remember him when he was alive and well.
“I’ll call you Angelo. What do you think of that?” Lorenza asked the small creature. It squealed with joy, and Lorenza took a seat back in the sand, stroking the head of the whale in her pocket.
