Night comes faster to you today as the bright sun of the previous day sets and the sky matches the flowers scattered throughout the arena. The chirps and honks grow louder, then softer, as all creatures start to settle in and maybe you should to. Sleep seems to come naturally to you, but before you can truly rest, an unfamiliar sound rings through the night sky.
Instead of the anthem, there is a rumble that slightly shakes the ground, but it is unnoticeable compared to the soft, longing sound that seems to emanate from the volcano itself. The koalas stir in the cradle of the tree branches or tributes’ arms, as their ears twitch at the sound of the volcano’s lament. Nothing else alerts you to the projection of familiar and unfamiliar faces in the night sky, resting among the clear stars.

Dandy Gordon, District Twelve
Jacob Wickham, District Five
Clementina Ogden, District Seven
Four more cannons have sounded, meaning fifteen more tributes are between you and home.
The volcano’s song ends with a hopeful tone—maybe one day he will find someone for him—but no hope is left for you. There is still a long way to go before you can truly rest.
As the moon rises and the stars twinkle in the night sky, a subtle shift is taking place in the ocean below. A solitary tugboat, set out to sea near the obsidian flows, finds that its trajectory has been shifted, courtesy of a stray current traveling in a counterclockwise formation. Upon daybreak, it abruptly shifts course - in a fashion that no natural current would do - bringing the boat aground on a beach of black sand.
Only, the boat’s occupants find they are not alone - for another group, having suffered a similar fate just hours earlier at the cost of their own aquatic ride, is there to meet them. Though the meeting was quite unintentional - they had, after all, attempted to reach a location they remembered clearly from the first day - an unexpected evening fog had turned them around, bringing them back to where they had came in circumstances that were anything but coincidental.
Outside, blood calls for blood. The Capitol must be appeased, and so, they shall get their desires.
