There's a certain difference between Six and One that he can't put to words. There's a way that the people hold themselves that makes him uneasy in the district. They all seem too cocky for their own good, but many of them were trained killers like Kaiser, Lux, and Lorenza. As much as he expected the districts to be a mess of violent eyes and built bodies, it resembled any other district that he had visited. People of all types of life were there with different bodies and different looks. He's seen the diversity of people there, but he's still afraid of everyone.
Locking himself up carefully as he had watched the District One people who passed by him. There's a smile that pastes itself to his face as he looks around every corner like someone might jump him. It was always possible. Anything was possible, just like a man who forgot his past winning a game of fight or die. There's the whisper of Kaiser Fray upon his ear of when he told him who killed Basil Isley in cold blood. Lorenza Aita still rings in his head as the killer, but she had been human too. He had demonized her in his heart. He made her into an image of a monster that had ripped his only piece of home in the arena from him. There was no token to hold onto. All that he had in the arena was Basil, which was why they had worked to kill her.
Revenge costed him a leg and a blackened heart.
That's why he wanted to find someone who knew her. There's a want to know the truth behind the monster that still resides in his mind as nothing more than Basil Isley's killer, but she had a life too. A life back home with a family that had possibly loved her. There's always something else to someone, especially when they are forced to fight or die in a game that was never really fair for anyone. There's no winners, but a survivor who has to walk with a heavy heart. Fake smiles and laughs that hide the heart behind a stone cold wall. There's a moment where he still feels like he's only walking on the edge of a dream, but it's his reality. A reality that was more torturous than the silent life he had before.
There's still a grave at home waiting for him.
All he can do is watch the people of District One pass by him in flashes of faces and movement. He's lost, but it doesn't matter. If someone needed him, Officer Moon or Justice Fray could find him. They'd send someone for his ass if he were to get too lost in the district. There were still eyes on him everywhere, watching him like a caged animal as he looks around. There's a heartbeat in his chest that beats with rock. It's encased in molten rock to hide the pain of it all away.
Then it's like a flash of eyes that catch his own. Green meeting brown that reminds him of Lorenza Aita. It's the similar features that had told him that she hadn't felt guilt for killing Basil. All he does is clench his fist, but stops himself again while staring too much. It's what he wanted, but the raw emotions of remembering what she had done comes up through his chest in stone cold heartbeats. They're slow and filled with anger, but he had to be composed. He's seen death's bones grab her from the world. He had seen the crimson that soaked blades. She was gone and the boy that was there looked like her, at least like her sibling.
"You."
He says out to the air as it warms the cool chill in the air. He tries to grab the boy's attention with his words and then holds his hand in his pocket, leaning on his good leg for a moment, until he speaks again.
"You're Lorenza's brother? Right?"
