I don't want to be back where I started from, because my roots wont keep me warm Tag: Kaplan. Words 403 |
I was laying on the grass, looking up towards the sky when inspiration had hit me. I was in the mood to make something new, and that was something that didn’t come to me that often. As much as I enjoyed creating, I hated having to go through the process of actually sewing up a garment. There was usually a lot of careful planning that had to go into it, like the color of the fabric, and the material I would use. However, today I felt like just going with the flow. My mom usually had a lot of fabric just lying around the house. She worked like a dog, which was good and bad. Good because I didn’t have to see her as much, but bad because I knew that one day, she wouldn’t want to work anymore. I walked in the house for a moment to pick out something to work with, however, with how much there was in the house, I just closed my eyes and picked at random. It was something cotton, fabric with a blue hue to it. It would probably make an excellent sweater for the colder months here in eight. That was going to be my best bet anyway. I grabbed a pair of sheers from the kitchen and some thread and needles from my mothers work station made my way to the front porch. There was a rocking chair I liked to sit in when I was hand stitching things. It was always something that calmed me and my hands, more importantly. I sat on the warped wood, it had been a couple weeks since rain had fallen, but there was enough to at least turn the wood from straight to slightly curved. I moved the fabric around and started cutting the pieces out that I needed. I worked fast, knowing well that I could have something done in less than an hour if I put my mind to it. I was a workhorse, just like my mother, at least, I picked that up from her. I push the scraps away and found myself left with two pieces of fabric that looked like they were even. Good. I put them on top of each other and grabbed a needle with the thread already tied into it and started to pierce the fabric, tying the piece of fabric together, hoping that my vision comes to life. |
Ill be back with a pic in a minute.
