manon
I could see all the colors imaginable. The silver trains, the black trucks, all of the vehicles our district manufactures. I have seen it all. I started to work in the factories when I was 16. I enjoyed working in the factory. I wasn't the smart kid. I wasn't the athletic kid. I wasn't the creative kid. I wasn't the goth kid. I was the factory kid.
My parents worked in the factories. I knew that the would love to do something else with their life. We didn't have much money, so really all my parents could do was work in the factories.
As a factory kid, most of look around the same. The tan skin and dark brown hair. I'm no different. My hair is longer than most factory girls. I'm a little more paler as well. My parents didn't let me go outside much as a kid. I still don't know why, and I never came up with a plausible theory.
Like most factory kids, I am malnourished and underfed. My ribs are visible when you see me with out a shirt. I wear baggy clothes, as my parents can't afford to buy new ones, I get my brothers old ones. I wear my mothers dresses from when she went to the reaping. They are the basic dresses that you would see in 3,5,6,9,10,11, and 12.
I got most of my genes from my father. His hazel doe eyes, mine look like a replica of his. I got his thin, light purple lips. I particularly don't like my lips as it makes me look like I am freezing. The only thing I really got from my mother was her nose. Thin, with a slightly pointy end, and regular nostrils.
I am used to not having special treatment. It is a rarity to get a cake on my birthday. A rarity to have a meal that fills me up every day. I don't count on having a good meal every night, but I am thankful for every meal that I get, good or bad. My parents are very proud of bringing up a daughter who is very appreciative for what she has and what she gets.
My brother calls me a control-freak. I can't help to agree with him. I do like to tell people to do, and I can get frustrated when they do not do it. There is some people that I know who will screw up situations, so I do tend to tell them what to do. I can't help that I like to have complete control of situations.
My parents say that I am very reliable, when comparing me to my brother. I do try and keep trust with people, by doing what they ask of me. I would be a good follower, but I was a born a natural leader. I try to be hard-working, as I try my best at everything that heads my way. I rarely give up on situations, so even if the odds are against me, I will still try and if I fail, so what. If I did my best, I believe I won in my mind.
I was born in the Autumn. My parents say I was a beautiful babe. My mom said I weighed 9 pounds 7 ounces when I was born. She also said my brother tried to smother me with a pillow when I wouldn't stop crying. I still laugh at that. My parents liked to tell me the things I did as a kid, so I could remember them and tell the stories to my kids when I was older.
My father told a story to me when he was reading me to bed when I was eight. He said that my brother pissed on all my toys. Once he said that, I died laughing in his arms. He continued and said that my brother had to hand wash them all, and we watched from the window. Hands down the funniest story my father has told me about my childhood.
My first reaping was particularly boring. As I do feel bad for the ones picked for the games, I generally don't care. The games don't bother me that much. Our tributes that year ended up dying, as usual. We've only had 1 victor, and that is the victor of the most recent games, Teddy Ursa. I never met him. I've seen him though, and he seems like one of those pretty boys.
I started working in the factory when I was 16. I was really happy to start working. I could earn money and help out my family. Of course, my pay was very low. I really did enjoy my time in the factory. I still work in the factory daily, trying to earn as much money as I can to help my family.
