The 2nd tribute at the Gallows

As you approach the hilltop, you see the vacant gallows standing solemnly in the moonlight, nooses swinging in a breeze that is not quite there. As the fog descends, an eerie silence descends too. Soon, you can no longer hear the rustle of dead grass beneath your feet, the creak of the old wooden gallows, the voices of your fellow tributes. Soon, you realize that you can’t hear anything at all- not even your own voice- as the silence overcomes you.

After a while your hearing returns- but the silence is maddening.
