Boys from home are supposed to be tall and strong as the very trees that make up home. Ideality is being six feet tall, well muscled, and powerful, for it is boys like that that do the hard, necessary work - for each one of them means that work will be just that much more productive, and few things please the keepers like an uptick in productivity.

But not everyone is meant to be like that. For behind the tree boys are the flower boys, those who were cursed from the beginning with poor physiques and the wrong kind of genetics. Those boys are never destined to grow into the towering oaks that have come to be expected, so, like a flower, they adapt in other ways. 

A pretty face makes up for fragile bones. Nervous, flitting eyes conceal a knowledge for the smaller plants and an uncanny ability to capture even the slightest of changes in front of them. And where body might be weak, resolve is strong, 

Compared to the trees of home, flowers are weak, delicate little things. But what everyone forgets is that flowers, like trees, come from the very earth beneath us, pushing up from a solitary seed into a thing of beauty. 

Sure, we might be forgettable compared to the tall, towering trees that everyone looks at. But we are strong in our own way.

After all, to survive, even a flower must break through the very earth itself to grow.
