THE 77TH MUTT CONTEST!

Attention Members! Would you like to contribute to the 77th Hunger Games from a Gamemaker's standpoint? Here's your chance to contribute!

Come up with a "muttation" or other genetically altered wild beast using the following form, and reply to this thread with your finished product. The best mutts may be included in the 77th or other future Hunger Games. There is no limit to how many mutts you may submit, so feel free to post more as they come to you (although remember to edit your post rather than double-posting if someone else has posted before you)

If your muttation is used, you will receive credit for your little beastie on the Muttation Directory thread that will be present during the Games, as well as on the Site Wiki's Muttation Page. Note that the Gamemakers (staff) reserve the right to make minor changes to your creations.

Notes: Mutts involving humans will not be used, and mutts created initially "to kill people," "to destroy people," or "to torture people" will also have to be explained very well to be used. Be more creative than that!

You may want to refer to the Arena Map for climate-based inspiration. For the 77th, we are looking for realistic mutts that fit our spooky theme.

The contest will end October 11th, so please have your entries in by that evening!

Brief Summary:The Hangman-

Initially developed to strike fear in the hearts of would-be rebels, the Hangman is a mutt, bear-like in appearance, that resides in the gallows. His feet are heavily clawed with wicked sharp ivory that gleam like blades and cut just as quick. Though he walks on four legs when threatened he will rise to walk on two, revealing a bare belly, strangely man-like in appearance. When on two legs, he stands at thirteen feet tall and three feet across. In place of maw or snout, there is only a seemingly endless deep and heavy black hood. On his back resides an emblem of his office, a two-headed axe seared into his flesh by brand. If a tribute comes close enough to see, they might have the privilege of seeing something undeniably terrifying. The face of the very first person that they killed, be it tribute, avox or even citizen will appear beneath that black hood, back from the grave to take their revenge.

Brief Summary: Dream Taurens

Created from the hands of Petelia Quartz, the tauren's main purpose in live is simply looking cuter than the average cow - in itself, an advantage. Bred a light lavender and equipped with dragon wings and tiny bull horns, these bovines are deemed docile and near-pet like, rumored to give better dreams to near by sleeping bitches. These serpent hybrids, however, have seen some sweet ass modifications in order to be viable for life in the arena, including a much more aggressive and toxic masculine approach -- fighting even each other on occasion. These free range bred bison are impossible to tame and excruciatingly temperamental, attacking near on sight with adorable, gem-encrusted horns.

Name: Teresamae
Brief Summary: Teresamae was initially created as a playground mutt, that would chase the children of the Capitol in a game of tag. However, many variations of the mutt began to deteriorate. The original design was based on a friendly lizard, that would stand on two feet and each mutt wore varying tuxedos. Although its vibrant green scaly skin always turned a dull grey. The young hip lizard type creature turned into an old hagged brute and began to resemble the stereotypical look of a witch. Its snout grew pointy and its claws grew sharper and thus, the children began to fear it. The mutt was revived for the 77th games, the tuxedo was out and so to match with the arena theme, it now wears a witch hat and a dark cloak. The mutt primarily resides in the Wheat Field and it is no longer out there for a game of tag. No tribute wants to catch its claws on their face, especially now that an added touch of poison is in the mix.

REAPERS
Brief Summary: Based upon Dementors from Harry Potter, these creatures were not created to to chase away, but to keep things already caught from escaping. During the war, Reapers were stationed outside of every Capitol prison, ensuring that, in the event of a breakout, rebels would not get far. They have an almost ghoul-like appearance, cloaked in black so that only their fanged mouths can be seen. There are rumors among the districts that these creatures actually hover just above ground, but this could also be due to their quiet elegant poise, despite their disgusting taste for blood. Vampires by their own right, it is said that when a reaper sinks its fangs into you, you are as good as dead.

GRIEVERS
Brief Summary: Based on the creatures of the same name from the Mazerunners, the exact chemistry of grievers is unknown, as they were actually a creation on the rebel side of the war. Because of their limited resources, the griever appears to just be a large blob of mucus-like flesh, with bone spikes jutting out of it in different directions. Should it stab you with one of those, you may count yourself unlucky, but it is the whip-like tail that one should truly avoid, for the side effects are slightly similar to that of tracker jackers, which causes terrifying hallucinations. In addition, the poison released from the stinger also serves as a paralytic agent, so that the admittedly slow griever has more time to kill its target.

DANTE'S IVY
Brief Summary: Based upon Devil's Snare from Harry Potter, this fast-growing plant has been bred to be lethal. Originally, it was used to conceal and protect capitol goods during the war. It was simple, throw a blanket of the inky-black ivy over a couple of chests and watch as it snatched rebel after rebel, like flies to a web. It reacts to movement, and the more a person struggles, the tighter its grip becomes. But it was not a perfect monster. It assumed that, should someone remain still after being caught, it was dead. When the capitol realized that the rebels were starting to catch on, they began exploring other options, especially when they also discovered the Ivy's acute sensitivity to light.

Brief Summary: Ivy Wolf
Camoflauged just perfectly, these creatures seek out those who are lurking around. As their bodies are covered with nothing but vines and ivy, its hard to decipher if these beasts have a heart or not. Outter appearances would make one think it resembles a larger than normal wolf, standing at a five foot shoulder height. In the mouth of the Ivy Wolf, it is merely thorns, thin and long. When in camoflauge mode, it will sink in several thick vines into the earth's soft soil and 'listen' to its future prey just waiting for the right time to strike. It was primarily used in the forests and outskirts of several districts to control the threat of escape and rebellious activity. If caught, the creatures would 'eat' it's prey. Since they have no real body, it's stomach is more of a thick ivy cage to hold them until they were brought in to the proper authorities.

Brief Summary: Honeydrop Tree: "The nectar of the gods," the head botanist claimed in her speech. And indeed it was - in a matter of months, beverage manufacturer Honey & Co. has risen to acclaim for their beautiful orchard of "Honeydrop Trees": Strong, silver branches, drooping slightly from the weight of many golden orbs. A cross-mixture of honeycrisp apple, honeydew, and lychee, the delicious fruit is about the size of a large orange and must be peeled before eating. Its taste is rich, with the sweetness of fruit and the sharpness of wine, or a hard cider. But not only is it alcoholic, it contains important nutrients and fiber! Since its release, Honeydrop fruit has become common at the wealthiest parties, for isn't "fruit that can get you drunk" better than plain-ol-fruit?

Brief Summary:
The Mash Making Murderers-
At one point in Panem's history, Capital torture methods and execution options were limited and not yet perfected. During this time, there was a conspiracy involving treasonous Capital chefs. These chefs were subjected to a primitive form of chemical torture that ended up transforming them into demented hulking masses, barely recognizable as having ever been human and without any memories but of hatred and food preparation. The capital kept them locked up after the incident, just in case they were ever needed as super soldiers or something similar. They stand at 7 feet tall all of them having hunches. They all are given weapons such as machetes, knives and ,in some cases, frying pans. (I'm not sure where they would reside within the arena but maybe in the gallows). They will charge at tributes and attack in a manner similar to a psychotic serial killer. These creatures can be detected through hearing their battle screams of "leedle leedle leedle" and, if prepared, tributes could kill them and use their weapons.

CLOWN

Brief Summary:

When entertainment got low in the capitol, it was not the funnest place to be. The time in-between the Hunger Games, the capitolites needed something to keep them entertained. A couple people grouped up and designed something called a clown. It was only 5-foot with a jester's hat, a bright red nose and a sinister grin that went well beyond the realm of entertainment. The capitolites- however loved the sinister grins and in fact, thought it was hilarious. The clowns did their job, but the kids couldn't help but feel a deep and darkening fear of the clowns. And when one clown attacked a child who was running from it, the clowns got up away. Now the capitol had decided to open up the basement door and let the clowns into the 77th games arena. The capitol didn't have to do many changes for the clowns, as they were scary enough- but they increased their size making them 6-foot towering clowns, but that is not all they did. Claws and Fangs from Bears and Snakes were added to give it a more deadly approach. But the clown has a weakness, it feeds on fear and flesh, and when there is no fear, the clown needs more flesh so it goes a little more wild.

Brief Summary: Wheat Evils

These ugly bugs are the descendants of genetically altered wheat weevils, and were originally intended by the Capitol to eat smaller pests that reduced wheat crop yields. However, the hybrids were found to prefer the taste of human flesh, and were never introduced to the fields of District Eleven. These beetles are brown and rough in texture, similar to a cockroach, with wings and scary pincers, and roughly the size of a fingernail. They look like the head of a wheat stalk, so they are difficult to notice if you're not up close. They are fiercely protective of territory, and attack in bloodthirsty swarms if you get too close. Their flight patterns are awkward, sort of like stink bugs--they float and buzz around, never in straight lines.

Brief Summary: Pumpkin Spiced Arachnids

As a way of keeping the people of District Eleven from escaping into the forest surrounding them, the capitol created a creature that'd look like a simple pumpkin in their harvest. Averaging about the different sizes of pumpkins, these arachnids body is hidden within the pumpkin, legs confined into the space as they wait for their "prey" to pass them. Once someone is in their area, they strike as an alert to peacekeepers. They web their "prey" containing them to that spot where the person couldn't escape. After a year of using the creature as a border, it had been going well, until the arachnids got too aggressive with keeping their prey webbed up. They were sent back to the capitol where they'd be given more vicious enhancements for the games. Teeth that were ever so sharp and the ability to confine themselves into pumpkins with a smile cut into it. It's not just your imagination at the eyes that seem to be watching you from their home, until it's too late and you're trapped in their webs.

Brief Summary: Umbras

After the 71st's Aibells, a capitol scientist had the brilliant idea to make something like them, but deadlier. While the Aibells of the 71st were light and bright in looks as they followed tributes around, the scientist made his Umbras dark, pitch black, and in forms that may be recognizable to others. The creature is corporeal in looks, but actually a foam-like creature that follows things around. Stalking it's prey and learning the ins and outs of them. The creature takes form as a shadow in an area, or even the tribute's own shadow as it follows them. The scientist had tested the Umbras on mutts of all shapes and sizes to see how it'd act. With every mutt, the Umbras learned a new shape or form. It's ability to copy a shape gave it opportunities to get in close and cause mayhem. The creature is able to grab things from items to even people themselves. Pleased with his creation, the scientist proposed his mutt to others, getting denied every time as it wasn't able to fight on it's own. Modified with a hardening form of the foam, the creature can solidify into a black stone that can cut at tributes. The creature was able to harden itself to contain a person to their spot. Tributes beware, this mutt may just be following you without you even knowing. After all, even the shadows are against you.
