Rhaegar Hammerfell Seventeen | Male | District Two |
These trainers aren’t good for anything. I’ve been fighting them over and over, and the reactions are the same repetitive motions I’ve seen before. I need some real talent. Someone who’s capable of fighting me man to man. I’ve never liked training with trainers because they’re only getting in my way. I’m better than them, and they need to realize this. Maybe they’ll hire me when I make it out of this arena alive. Then I can show the tributes the real way to fight. I can teach them how to sever limbs from bodies and how to stab people in the face. That’s what I want to do now, but they tell me I can’t train with a real tribute. Not that any of them can compare to how I am now. I’m better than them all, and only time will tell.
Sighing carefully, I pick a sword from the rack and move towards one of the trainers. The sword feels nice. Not too heavy. A little on the light side. With a smirk, I motion for the spar to begin. A couple of blows on each side, yet I can tell this trainer isn't worth a damn at all. Maybe they're holding back when a tribute wants to train. It would make sense. They're meant to train us and not injure us. Still, I can't help but feel unsatisfied when I fight them. A desire a real fight. Shame that I have to wait for the arena to do that. I begin another sparring match only this time, I have my sword behind my back. I'm practically inviting myself to a world of hurt if this trainer was a real opponent.
So I ask him to not hold back. What follows is exactly what I've wanted. A hard fought sparring match. I can feel the blows that were struck. Not enough to seriously harm, but I'll definitely be feeling it tomorrow morning that's for sure. I laugh at the trainer. "You call that a fight?" If this is what the tributes are learning, I have nothing to worry about. There's still the fact that this particular trainer might be the worst of the bunch. I'm open to fighting all of them to find out. I ask for another trainer and nod to begin. Immediately, I turn my back with a smirk on my face. What surprises me is the feel of steel on my neck. Clearly this trainer is different. Telling me it's a mistake to turn my back on an enemy. A cocky move that would have gotten me injured if not outright killed. I back away slowly from the trainer's sword. I hope another tribute shows up soon. Boredom is beginning to set in.
