"Aunt Fauna, is there anything you wish for me to pick up for you while I'm out?" I inquire of my dear aunt. She, as well as Flora and Merryweather, have all been so kind to me, especially in the years that they have raised me. I'm truly grateful to have them in my life, and it appears that they feel the same way about me. If I can help them out in any way, I certainly try to. I like being a kind soul, and I'm very respectful towards others, due to how I was raised.
"No thank you, dear, that's alright. You go have fun now, okay?" Aunt Fauna responded to me, her voice ever so kind. I smiled, and told her I would do just that. I slipped on a cute pair of sandals that I own to match my beautiful yet casual white dress, and headed out the door. Hopefully I would only encounter those who were kind, this time while I was out. I have often been given weird looks by people around the District for the exotic colors that I dye my hair. Regardless of what people say, however, I keep going on.
The reaping was surprisingly getting less stressful for me as the years went one. This year, once again, I didn't know who was reaped, and it relieved me. Sure, I felt bad for their families. My aunts had always told me to try to feel sympathy for others who are in difficult times, whether it's because of the Games, or anything else. I wondered, however, if anyone I would encounter on the street today needed a friend to just give them a little bit of comfort. I could certainly need that friend.
Of course, I wasn't just going to go around and start asking people if the Games were causing them hardship. That just wasn't the polite thing to do. I knew that for absolute certain. There was no way that someone would want to be approached and then asked if their loved ones were any of the innocent teenagers competing in the death match that is the Hunger Games. If I were in that situation, it would certainly make me uncomfortable. Being asked about the death of my loved ones is never a good time for me, so I wouldn't think it would be for very many other people in the whole of Panem, either.
As I entered a flower shop, a little bell chimed when the door opened. I had walked there from my home, which was a bit of a hike, but worth it overall, in my opinion. I was going to be purchasing some flowers for a friend of mine today. Every year, ever since the 74th, when the Games start up, she gets really upset. She lost her cousin to the 74th Games, and I figured I should get her something to cheer her up. Flowers were a bit expensive, but I thought it was worth it, overall.
Once I purchased the flowers that I wanted to get for dear Julianna Reekie, I went to head out of the shop, I stopped. There was something missing, and I wasn't sure what it was. Therefore, I turned around and reentered the building, and tapped on the shoulder of someone who I thought worked there. At least, I thought she did, until I saw her face, and she didn't look familiar. Unless she was a new employee, this would make for a somewhat awkward situation. Flowers in one hand, I quickly lowered the other hand that I had used to tap on this girl's shoulder.
"So sorry! I thought you were someone else." I said this apologetically, hoping that she wouldn't be bothered by all too much.
