Alaric Maximus Elfer is more commonly known as Alaric Elfer or simply Alaric. His parents wanted him to be a champion and win the games from the time they found out his mother was pregnant. When they found out he was a boy, they began carefully picking his name. They wanted him to have a name whose meaning reflected wealth or power. His first name, Alaric is of German origin and it means "Noble Ruler". They wanted him to seem princely almost, after all he is from the district of luxury. His middle name, Maximus is a Latin name meaning "greatest". The reason they were fond of that should be obvious. Of course they didn't have a say in his surname, but it does fit with the theme ironically enough. He has a Dutch surname that combines "powerful" with "ruler".
Alaric is currently sixteen years old, his birthday had recently passed on December 7th.. With time running out to where he's eligible for the reaping, his family is pressuring him to volunteer as soon as possible.
Alaric identifies as male and he's biologically male. He prefers he/him pronouns because of this.
Alaric is from district one. District one is the luxury district so he lives a very comfortable life, rivaled only by those in the capitol.
Alaric has been described as looking like a vampire or a ghost. He has pasty skin, likely because he spends much of his time in his basement training or at the indoor training center. This basically makes it impossible for him to get a tan. Similarly to his pale skin, his eyes are a pale blue. The eye colour is almost gray so it would probably be called, "ice blue" His eyes naturally have large, dark bags under them from the lack of sleep he gets. Time spent sleeping is time that could be spent training after all! His parents care so much about appearance they could honestly be citizens of the capitol! So the bags and his teenage acne don't detract from his parents, they try to cover it with makeup. However, the flaw remains.
His hair is naturally a very dark brown, it looks black depending on the lighting. The darkness of the brown makes it, "espresso brown". His eyebrows, obviously matching his hair, is quite bushy. His hair is thinner and he gets it cut frequently to keep his parents happy. Because of the thinness it;s likely he could start losing his hair as early as his late thirties or early forties. Receding hairlines also run in Alaric's family. This flaw means he'll likely bald, something many people consider "unattractive".
Finally is his body type. His lean and slightly muscular, he can likely lift around one-hundred pounds. This number could be much higher considering his parents usually have him train eighteen hours on non-school days (this leaves six hours for food, sleeping, etc.). If he ever has to go into the games, Alaric is scared of the idea of having to see the look in someone's eyes when he kills them. So he primarily focuses on longer ranged weapons, even something like a flail is preferable to a sword. His legs are pretty muscular because long ranged weapons require being fast enough to run.
Alaric is often described as the strong and silent type. This is primarily because whenever girls flirt with him, he just ignores them. A lot of the time they assume he's playing hard to get, when in reality he's just not interested. This is because he's homosexual and interested in no girls at all. Not only that, he tries to avoid people in case they both volunteer and get reaped, he doesn't want to have to murder someone he once called "friend". Or a family member of a friend. He's also just generally introverted.
His introvertedness spreads from several other personality traits that came together to create that. His first trait is is low self-esteem. Alaric's parents constantly talk about his weak points and how he could do better. How he can train better, learn better, and represent their family better. This caused him to constantly notice his own short comings. The flaw can cause him to force himself to train or studies after he's already suffering from exhaustion. If he strained himself like this during something like the Hunger Games, he would be more vulnerable from the extreme fatigue.
A second trait that shaped Alaric into his current self is his inability to stand up for himself. This mostly stems from his low opinion of himself. When he was growing up, if he attempted to tell his parents he didn't want to train or study, they'd ignore him. This made Alaric feel even if he did stand up for himself, it wouldn't matter. This flaw will make it difficult to kill someone in a fight.
Like many people growing up in district one, two, and four, his life has been surrounded by his parents training him to the win the games. His parents have always made sure he spends at least twelve hours training in some way each day. That means on school days he goes to school for roughly eight hours and trains for twelve, leaving four for rest and food. He ended up getting killed by Peacekeepers because of this. Thirteen year old Alaric watched as his parents burnt every last hint of the fact that they even had another son.
