[attr="id","teddyText"]Enough. Too many eyes. Too many expectations. Too long of a wait to even use the restroom. The training center was stranger than it used to feel. Ghosts of the past hide in the walls. Tales of the dead linger across the floor. Delilah would tell him of the ghosts that linger in the room. Fates of the dead lingering on her tongue at any moment's notice. A smile that actually is true comes to his face as that would make the day a little more bearable. He'd have to show her the garden of the fateful night that Adelaide had meet him at. A hum of a plan comes from his skin, until it falls as another crazy capitolite who was a fan of him stomps over begging for anything. A selfie, an autograph, or anything possible that he could keep. Instead of speaking, his legs turn away as he gives an excuse of someone else waving him over.

Instead, he finds himself lingering to a side and moving away from the busy hustle of the event in full stride. Familiar faces meet as he turns towards the woman who gave him a life, even if it was truly in his own hands. A letter in her hands with interest in her tone last time he saw her. Charlie was not the typical gamemaker that he assumed of her to be, instead, she seemed friendlier in a terrifying way. A shrug comes to mind as he stretches his arms up and puts them down. Leaning against a wall slightly as he's ready to just sleep for a long time.

"Nice to see you again, Ms. Garnet."

Lux's cold eyes flash before him and then they're gone.

"Could I get you anything?"

Sometimes Charlie appreciates the revolving door of status; one moment you're in the spotlight, and the next you're yesterday's news. It's how she's spent the last year, nestled in personal and professional and public purgatory. It's how she's been able to begin to do normal things, like purchase her own groceries without getting followed by paparazzi. Or take care of a friend who's fallen down the rabbit hole. And perhaps, wonder for a moment if she's done the same.

But it's called a revolving door for a reason, and the camera flashes cause her stomach to turn in knots. Capitolites eager for her take on this year's games, gossip on the Gamemakers - leeches looking for the next scoop to suck dry. All she can do is answer with politics, throw the conversation back on them, and escape when there's the smallest of openings.

She finds a corner and stays there, sneaking tips to the waiters for regular service. And it's here that Teddy Ursa finds her. He greets her and she nods, gazing at him as he leans against the wall, and shows him the slightest of smiles when he offers to get her anything. In response she shakes her head and sips her wine, a Generous vial of Riesling ("Thank you."); and when a moment later the waiter returns with another serving she takes it, handing it without a word to her Victor.

Charlie doesn't know much about this past game, but knows that the girl went first, and the boy was a fan favorite. Well, until he died. She shifts her weight to her other foot, eyes analyzing the lines in his face, the heaviness in his shrug. She understands, she thinks. Does she? Perhaps.

"Have you slept?"

[attr="id","teddyText"]A polite thank you comes from her lips as he gives her a polite smile in response. Eyes glancing to many names that he knew of, but never had to meet in the arena. Krearns, Lumiere, Cheyne, Shim, and others that lived in the shadow of their names. A moment of relaxation hits him like the explosion of molten rock from the cornucopia. Tiredness in his eyes from lack of sleep that comes with the crown of his deeds. Worries of what more he could have done for Serena and Ansel upon his mind for far too long. Eyes blink for a moment, until she hands a glass to his hand. A smile and a polite response comes from his lips.

"Thanks."

A yawn threatens to come from his lips as he rubs a hand against his eye tiredly. Gossip that drifts around the room like wildfire about anyone and everyone. The weird capitolite man who talked his ear off, speaking to some others. All of it felt a mess that was meant to be a show of something more. A show that they had no control when it came to anything. Charlie is studying him. There's no way that she wasn't because the words that come from her lips were a question of the observations she's made. Always calculated, yet still caring in some sort of way. At least, that's what he hoped from her.

"Have you slept?"

Sleep. An awful thing for him. Others deal with their sins and past in many ways. Others see them in many ways. Theodore Ursa's were dreams that sent him into a cold sweat every night. A scream always wanting to come form his lips, but never actually.

"Yes, but never well enough. Burdens that I have to live with when it comes to winning the games."

She nods, but doesn't quite know what to say; there really isn't anything to say, if she's being honest. They made their own beds, created their own outcomes. But Charlie would be lying if she said she never stayed awake at night, the echoes of screams at the corners of her brain.

It's a bit strange, being a Gamemaker. She had gone into it partly because of the prestige, but truly because The Hunger Games were at the forefront of technology, the opportunity to innovate and create and build the future. Death - no matter how righteous it was, or what contract was signed - was jarring. Her first few years she managed to stay away from the most of it, busy establishing AR imaging for the sky panels and tending to muttations. The latter years however, very different.

"You did well this year," she says.
She thinks of Ansel, stabbing into Fennel's forehead. "They did their best."
