Asher Wrenn had done everything he could in life to make sure he stayed one step ahead of everyone else, from seizing an opportunity in refineries early to moving to the outskirts of the district. He had done everything to ensure that his children were properly clothed and fed and educated. He had done everything to make his wife Lorna as comfortable as life would allow in District Five. 

Everything was too much.

Unbeknownst to his children, Mr. Wrenn was not a kind or good man. Quite the opposite. With the assistance of a major banker, a high-ranking Peacekeeper, and an exotics breeder, Mr. Wrenn ran a prostitute ring that catered to the wealthy in the district, and served to put down those workers under his employ in his refineries. His sway as a businessman, should he choose to use it, could be a make or break force in your life. For most, it was break. It would seem, in the end, that it was break for him as well.

A blaze erupted in the house in the dead of winter, consuming the entire property and all who slept inside: Mr. and Mrs. Wrenn, alone. All five of the Wrenn's children were out of the house when the fire spit ash into the sky and scorched the surrounding earth. In an instant, a lifetime gone. In an instant, all that Asher Wrenn stood for undone.

The only biological child of Asher and Lorna, they feel duty-bound to care for their four adopted siblings. Theu were never particularly invested in their father's legitimate business and so now they feel like they're suffocating under the dual weight of inheriting several oil refineries and the responsibility of taking care of their family.

Adopted by the Wrenn's when it was discovered Lorna could not bear children after her first child, they knew no parents but the Wrenns. Having had the closest relationship with their father, they are distraught over his death. They are convinced the fire was an act of arson, and intend to find out who started it.

Unbeknownst to anyone including himself, he is the bastard of Asher and a lover. He thinks the circumstances of his adoption were strange, because he never quite made it to a group home despite his mother seemingly having 'no connections.' He is the most recently adopted of all the siblings, and while the Wrenns' deaths don't affect him as much emotionally as a result, he is concerned that his oldest sibling will put him up for adoption. His 'twin' sibling is the person he is closest to in the family.

After stumbling upon details of her father's illicit business practices, she decided the world would be better off without him or his enabling wife in it. Her moral compass drives her to act 'for the good of the many.' She has not told her siblings about Asher's true nature, or about how she set the fire.

The youngest of the siblings, they find themself the most lost and left behind in the rush of confusion following the fire. They've always been very in-tune to people's emotions, and can't quite cope with their life being turned upside down. As a result, they are trying to keep the family together, for their own emotional sake.
