"Good Morning Dignitaries," Head Tour Guide Antimony Perkins shouts as the breakfast buffet winds down. "And welcome to the Capitol! I know I speak for everyone when we say that we're excited that you're here! It's an honor to give you all a glimpse into our lives, history, and culture." Antimony smiles, teeth blindingly white. They motion to their underlings, all of whom cheer with the exuberance of an eight year old at a playground.
"We'll be splitting you all into groups in about fifteen minutes, and at 10:00 we'll be setting off! You'll have time to explore each area that we visit - but please don't dally too long! Our handy dandy Peacekeepers will be on hand to help if you need any assistance. Thank you for being part of history, and most importantly, have fun!"
Tour Guide Reference Sheet
- Get to monorails on time! A tardy tour is a terrible tour
- When in doubt, redirect: You have been selected as a tour guide for your upbeat personality, passion for history, and ability to diffuse situations. Use your talents!
- Peacekeepers will be on hand at all areas in case of incidents. It is not your job to deal with incidents - your safety is paramount.
Tour Stops:
Residential Area: Various apartments have opened their doors for Dignitaries to visit; if nervous, encourage hosts to discuss District products and how beneficial they are (use your intervention skills! Too much focus may be on One, Two, and Four). Make sure to break for lunch - Dignitaries are likely not on a diet. Some neighborhoods are holding a potluck or block party; dignitaries may attend, but should stick to their own boxed lunches in case of contact with allergens.
Style Street: The "epitome of couture" features a pop-up sidewalk runway and photoshoot, as well as some great discounts for Dignitaries (last year's collection of course, do not tell them that). "Selfie stars" planted along the sidewalk - their phones are connected to the billboards on 2nd St., point out Dignitary pictures on billboard. An esteemed art & design university in the neighborhood has picked this date to feature their outdoor thesis exhibition and end-of-semester showcase. Encourage a dialogue between Capitolites and District Eight Dignitaries, who may be familiar with some of the textiles and manufacturing processes.
Executive Park: Mention how districts help the Capitol, and how the Capitol has used this to help the districts (ex: innovations to the fences that keep wild animals at bay, upgrades to media for entertainment and news). All of this is created at Executive Park. Gamemaker HQ will be a highlight of this section, but do not go too into detail.
Opening Ceremony Pantheon: Monitors depicting the most brilliant Opening Ceremony numbers will be playing here, and the area has been retrofitted to be a public park in the off season. 77th Games Memorabilia will be available for purchase. May be best not to loiter here.
Statue Garden: An award-winning orchestral quartet will be playing in the garden. A selection of artisanal iced teas and coffee will be available. Emphasize that Dignitaries take a break and explore the garden, which is currently in the middle of one of its Winter Blooming seasons. Particularly prevalent are Queen Anne's lace, hydrangeas, and white roses.
