Most carnivals that Capitolites had been to were generally the same – they were loud, crowded, and designed to amuse children. What kept Capitolites from throwing away their paper invitations to the Capitol Carnival was the fact that this event was put together by President Snow. There had always been such trust in President Snow to put on every event with grace and elegance and there was no doubt that this would be an exception.
When the Capitolites arrived today, they found that President Snow had exceeded their expectations as always.
Who: All Capitolites for the whole day, District Dignitaries for an hour (supervised tour)
When: Let It Snow Event, Day 2
Where: Capitol Event Grounds, roughly 500 acres in size
What: The Capitol Carnival – a glorious event with classic carnival attractions, stunning decorations, and fun for all ages to celebrate President Snow. The colors for the event are silver and blue – they twirl up every tree trunk, adorn every booth, and embellish every building. The Capitol Carnival is divided into sections which include:
Animal Abode: Livestock from District Ten have been imported so that Capitolites can see in real life the animals they have only seen on screen. This section of the Capitol Carnival is essentially a multi-building petting zoo, each of which contains a different animal – cows, pigs, goats, fowl, horses, and rabbits. Children are free to feed animals as they like.
Games Galore: Classic carnival games can be found in this section including throwing a ball to land in a designated color cup, breaking plates by throwing balls, successfully climbing up a twisting ladder, and more. Prizes include large stuffed animals, gift cards, and a variety of toys. Tickets to play can be purchased at nearby booths (each Capitolite is given two tickets with their invitation).
Circus Craze: Capitolites can watch skilled acrobats, clowns, musicians, and trained animals for four shows today. Because this is expected to be a very popular attraction, the circus will be held in the Grandstand.
Fantastic Fare: Booths are lined along one street intersecting the Capitol Carnival selling all types of food. From fried pickles to caviar, the variety is incredible along this street that appears to stretch for miles.
Snow Spectacular: In the center of the Capitol Carnival is a large building that Capitolites can go to see and appreciate President Snow’s legacy. Capitolites can view portraits, videos of historic moments, important documents, and videos of the most epic Hunger Games moments under President Snow’s time in office.
