Blonde long wavy hair. Deep blue eyes, huge and intelligent. Long black eyelashes. Tall, skinny - an appearance most girls can't even dream about. Pink princess outfits and a charming smile. And her make up looks like it came from a perfect fairy tale.
Some people call her "dollface" when they're mad at her because her beauty is almost unnatural and it might seem weird. Elque often makes a bad impression on people, because they think that she's heartless on the inside, frozen and a little robotic just like her dazzling facade. However, she is not as dispassionate as many of her acquaintances imply. She has never had any close friends and has never been in a romantic relationship, but she has a white pet bunny named Penny and loves it dearly.
Many of her rivals suggest that she has an eating disorder because nobody can be that thin without trying really hard, according to their opinion. But this girl is a mystery. Nobody could ever find out what she did to look that way.
She didn't do anything. Her parents did it for her. Hours in front of the mirror, shopping every week... It was just like with her sister. Mom and dad were always saying that they wanted their princesses to look their best. It was kind of painful when they made her wear narrow corsets which made it hard to breathe. It took a lot of time to pick the most stylish dresses. And almost all of her free evenings were spent at elite parties - to show off, obviously.
At first, she enjoyed it, though. If she allowed her mother and father to do what they wanted, they admired her, just like her older sister. She liked the huge amounts of pink in her gowns and trying on pretty clothes. It made her feel important and confident. And it helped her forget that her sister was called "pretty big girl" more often than herself. Especially when someone cool complimented her stunning looks.
Then it became annoying. Everybody seemed to admire her, but she could feel her classmates frown and burn with jealousy behind her back. Then they started expressing their opinions openly.
"Dollface. Dummy. Skinny chicken."
In a few weeks after she heard that first, all her friends were gone. And she was all alone. But she would never give up her life for the sake of their entertainment. And to prove she was worthy of respect, she started studying - every day and sometimes even night. It felt like the knowledge she was trying to pursue would never end, but she had an odd feeling that she didn't want this to end. Discovering her inner nerd was unexpected and pleasant at the same time.
However, after finishing school with excellent grades, Elque decided to become a makeup artist. She couldn't stand it that her sister was considerably more loved by their parents because she grew up to be a successful stylist. Elque had absolutely no intention to stay in her sister's shadow any longer. And she decided to choose a popular profession.
She thought it would be a shortcut on her road to fame, but she was wrong. Elque got herself an internship at one of the most prestigious capitol beauty salons. She spent a year learning the secrets of beautiful makeup and couldn't wait for this boredom to end. She knew it wouldn't get her anywhere. So she quit.
She never expected to get a new job as the Games Historian in the ALL-CAPS news podcast. After all, she didn't even have a proper higher education. But the interview went well and she was accepted. Now there was a way for her to be successful in a place where she was truly meant to be, doing a job she was destined to do.
