Thomas Reekie - D2 - CB1/4 - Fin

Its never easy watching someone you love go into the games.  However, there wasn’t time for us to ponder on that.  Rachel was tough, and while I hoped she would make it back home to us, I knew better.  Twenty-three people had to die.  I had to admit to myself, I was hoping that Rachel wouldn’t be one of them.

After her death, I honestly felt lost.  I was just starting out my training, or at least taking it seriously, however, it was a rough time for our family.  Sure, we were careers, but we also cared about the people that we shared blood with.  Blood that would be eventually spilt all over the arena.  It was hard to understand, but soon enough, I got over it.  I had to get over it. 

The world wouldn’t stop for me just because I was devastated.

So I picked myself up and dusted off the shame I felt that there was nothing I could do for her.  I trained harder, faster, and gave myself no time to feel anymore remorse when it came to what I needed to do. 

I needed to do something to.  To win.  Or to survive.
