Olivia Fairbairn
Love and Hate Are Beasts
The one that grows is the one you feed
"Right now the crickets have arthritis..."
Olivia Fairbairn is usually seen as odd. She had always been seen as distant, odd, and not quite there. She knew what people whispered about her as she passed them. She felt the same way about herself. She knew she had trouble with emotions. With understanding them, expressing them, and feeling them. She got excited when butchering animals, something that scared her after the fact. However, she could still care about people. It was just hard. She knew this because she cared about her family, she cared about her older brother.
"...so there is no music."
"...swelling to crescendos."
"As if we bent halos into melodies...'"
"...so there is no music."
She was finishing up her chores for the day. She had just finished feeding some of the livestock. They had a somewhat nicer house than most of district ten, this was a result of having a veterinarian as a parent. When the districts economy is primarily livestock based, veterinarians are in high demand. The blond walked up to her house, stopping at the rose bushes her mother had planted.
"No symphony of nature..."
Olivia loved roses. She thought they were absolutely lovely. They looked delicate and fragile, however they were covered in thorns to protect themselves from some unknown enemy. She related to that. The roses were mostly dead, but there were still a few that were in bloom. She picked off an alive bud with a small smile. Then she went inside, she needed to have a talk with her brother.
"...swelling to crescendos."
As previously mentioned, Olivia had trouble with emotions and caring about others. But she cared about her family, which includes her older brother, Oberon Fairbairn. Oberon and her honestly looked nothing alike, however their personalities had a major similarity. Both are quite introverted. However, even their silences are different. He's seen as more of the 'strong and silent' type while she's seen as either shy or simply indifferent depending on who you ask.
"As if we bent halos into melodies...'"
Olivia found her brother and softly spoke, "Obeon, I want to have a talk with you. The reaping is coming up soon and I'm scared. I'm not scared of getting reaped. I'm scared of you getting reaped. You're eighteen now so you have the highest chance of getting reaped. I know the games are necessary for peace, and I know you're strong. I know you know how to butcher things, but so do the careers. I don't want you to die, you can't abandon me like that. I know it's an impossible promise, but try not to get reaped."
"'...that could keep rhythm with our hearts."
She was half tempted to ask him to run away from the district. Yes he'd be gone, but he'd be alive. Maybe she could even visit him sometime. But, he'd get caught. He'd get caught then either tortured or killed by peacekeepers, a fate just as bad as being forced into the Hunger Games.
"We must shout..."
So instead she just had to hope. Hope he didn't get terrassae without telling her. Hope he wouldn't get reaped. Hope he could somehow survive the Hell that is the games. She knew if she got reaped she could likely kill someone without even flinching. She also knew she was fascinated with blood and death. Olivia wasn't sure if Oberon could ever kill someone.

"...until we shatter from our own vibrations."
