Bella kept on running.

And Running.

And running.

Everything was starting to blend together in a hell storm of blood, crimson smeared all over the white snow. If this were a different situation, Bella could easily see the beauty in a scene like this. It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen death before. She saw it every night in her dreams, and as much as she hated it, she grew used to it.

However, she knew that if she didn’t run from the people that she trusted, she was going to wind up just like the fallen. Her red blood used as make up for the people that made this look easy.

This was never going to be easy. This was always going to be hard. Harder than anything she could have imagined.

She was still running.

She thought about her parents and what they would tell her in this moment. How much they were probably relieved that she made it out of the blood bath. Bella was sure that they were turning over in their grave, and as much as she hated to admit it, she didn’t envy them.

Bella had to remember something.

She made it out of the blood bath.

Unharmed. Alive.

Well.

Well, almost well.

She was still running.

It felt like an eternity as she passed so many trees that she didn’t know what to do. She remembered her training well though, as she kept an eye out for somewhere she could hide. She could use dirt and moss to cover herself and become a canvas that she had already become. She was there for the capitol to do whatever they saw fit. They could kill her if they wanted too, she knew that much. She had watched it happen before. Someone who was completely healthy one second and then the next, they were gone.

Bella was determined to make sure that wasn’t her fate, so she kept running.

She kept thinking about the bloodbath. The fallen. The people that she could have been friends with. Souls that were gone too soon, but also, souls that weren’t in Bella’s way anymore. The most horrifying was watching Gillian, the twelve year from district 8 run body first into the girl from nine and watching her flatten the others skull. Bella didn’t think that she had that much power to her, but big things came in small packages, and Gillian was now someone to watch out for.

She never thought she would see murder in front of her very eyes.

But here, it was kill or be killed. Bella knew that.

Gillian knew that.

Everyone knew that.

It was the sick game that they had to play.

And she was still running away from it. Horrified.

Alone.

And then the girl from one had fallen and Bella knew that she had to get out of there. Soon enough, she would have become collateral damage, and while Caine was still there, fighting the good fight, there was just too much risk for a reward that she knew she wasn’t going to get.

However, she did hear two more cannons go off, and she couldn’t help but look back for just a second. She saw red spattered all over the snow, and two more bodies fall in the distance.

Instead of waiting around to be the next victim, she bolted, like she did when the house was on fire. She ran. Ran from everything, even though she had to leave people behind. People she didn’t even know if she stood well with. People that she only knew for a short period of time. People that could walk all over her. The scary part of that was, Bella would let them. Happily.

She had someone to protect. Someone to get home too. Marley was probably watching in horror. Bella didn’t want her to watch as she maneuvered the soon to be graveyard. However, she enjoyed the sentiment that she could be watching. That was the support she needed.

She needed someone who would hold onto the hope that she could go home. Marley was just that person and even in Bella’s death, she would continue to be that person.

That was the reason why Bella Rose had to make it home. Because she knew she deserved to live.

And when she started to get tired, she finally stopped herself, right by a hot spring. She was confused for a moment, wondering why such a nice place was nestled away in peaks of the mountainous arena. She took a deep breath before finally taking a seat near the water. She looked at the cascading water and thought about splashing some on her face. She didn’t though, knowing that there could have been something unexpected coming her way. She looked around, finding a rather large clearing near the hot springs that looked good enough to hide in. She did a full three sixty before deciding that this would be the best place for her to stop.

She found a log and took a second to compose herself, feeling hot tears fall down her face. She used her hands to wipe them away before they froze on her face. This was not the place for a girl that only wanted to protect everyone that she saw.

That was going to be her downfall.

That’s probably why it was good that she was alone. Because then she could figure out herself worth. She could figure out what she needs to do in order survive. Maybe if she made it to the feast she could then make a splash like she knew she could. She had to play this game smart, or she was going to be mutt food.

She began to work gather pieces of wood, bark, snow, and anything else that she saw around her to begin camouflaging the area that she was in. One thing Bella loved was working with her hands. She was methodical, working quick to make something that would keep her hidden enough until everything calmed down. She had to grit her teeth through the cold. She wished she stayed and grabbed more items, but she knew better. She didn’t want to end up like the slain tributes that were probably still lying there right now.

She kept going.

And going.

And going until she made something that looked sturdy enough and tall enough to cover her from three sides and up above. She left one side uncovered so her vision wasn’t completely blocked and one side was built slightly weaker so she could kick the back out just in case she needed to get out of there fast. She was proud of herself for making something that looked good enough to blend in with the setting. She then took some woodchips and began to grind them to dust with a rock. She took them and spread them across her body, trying to blend in with the trees. She didn’t think about it much, because she had a feeling that she wasn’t on anyone’s hit list. Despite her score, she felt like she was well liked, and that was enough to convince her so. Maybe she could have been wrong.

She wouldn’t know and she didn’t care to know right now.

Instead, she just thought about how she was going to procure food for the next couple days, and how she was going to keep warm.

She then noticed as a parachute floated down gingerly. It landed not too far from her hiding place, right by the log that covered the back of it. She got up and plucked it from the log quickly before heading back to her encasement. She opened it to find a pair of goggles, an empty canteen and a piece of flint inside. She didn’t find a note however, not really sure who sent her such gifts. She hoped it was her sister, but she couldn’t be certain, as they didn’t have a lot of money to their names. She shrugged as she put on the goggles and put the rest of the stuff in the bag thinking about screaming thank you out loud. However, she didn’t. She didn’t want to give away her location.

She sat there for a moment and thought about what she needed to do next. However, she needed to catch her breath. The would be time for everything. She knew that much.

and that she would have to keep on running.

She takes a breath of fresh air and immediately regrets it. The sting from the wind nearly knocks her back in her encasement and she tries to think of the warmest place she can. Why couldn’t the arena be somewhere like the 76th arena? Nice and warm, with beautiful sunsets that probably would have been beautiful to look at even though people were dying left and right. On days like this where Bella survived, she could have hidden in the sand, and while she might have gotten it in places that she didn’t want it, that would have been fine. She would have lived, because she would have been alive. As arbitrary as it sounded, Bella could live with herself.

But no.

She was currently in a frozen tundra. Which was fitting, fitting because she could feel the ice in her heart. Her blood felt like it was slowing down, but she could still move her body in synergy with what she was thinking about. She wasn’t in pain. No. She felt free for once. Sure, there was the chance of her dying, but that chance didn’t scare her as much as it used too. She was used to the nightmares. She was used to looks she would get because she didn’t know how to interact with people. She was used to letting people down as much as she built people up.

She was a mother through and through, but she was also still, a little girl. With no hope of making it out of here alive.

This was her chance to take her life by the neck, and choke it until everything sprayed out of it in a pool of thick red blood. Covering her and giving her the rebirth that she needed.

She heard things in the distance, and that made Bella want to hide even more. She was not looking forward to getting attacked right now, which is why she made it a point to learn how to blend into her surroundings. She wished there was more around the area, but she was going to have to live with what she got. She thought the igloo like structure she made seemed to work, but she knew that it was still noticeable, and being noticeable was the difference between life and death. Hell, that is how she made it out of the blood bath without a scratch on her, she wasn’t noticeable. She went under the radar and was able to grab things that she never thought she would have. Walking out with a weapon alone was more than enough, she just wished she could have walked out with a friend. Thankfully of all the slain, not one of them was someone that she interacted with in the training center. She was sure that she wouldn’t be able to handle that after all.

She wondered if they were alright.

Euley, Exar, Gillian, Crizz, Caine, Finely, Dymas, and even Aeson.

She hoped they were finding ways to keep warm.

Bella knew that some of them had to better than others, seeing as Euley and Aeson seemed to be the deadliest in the blood bath, however, that didn’t change her opinion of them. This was the games after all. They had to be ruthless, or they would be struck down in a manner that Bella couldn’t even imagine.

Bella wouldn’t be around for that.

She would tell herself, run run run as fast as you can.

And so that was what she did. She got out of the situation and just hoped that Caine made it out alive too. After all, he was the only thing that she had left to remind her of home.

With her spear in hand, she looked out at the hot spring and noticed that there was something peculiar about it. She saw something on a rock that looked like a bottle with a strange pink liquid in it. Bella looked around to see that she was still alone and she hoped that she would remain that way. She came out for a second to see that there in fact was a bottle there, and she didn’t know how it got there or what was the point of it.

So she decided to walk out towards it, being cautious of the people that were probably out looking for her. She took a deep breath as she closed the distance between her and the rock. She could help but laugh when she read the label that was on it. “Bubble bath? Really? At a time like this?” Bella couldn’t believe the audacity, but at the same time, this was something to expect here in the games. Nothing made sense, and she was here to give them a show.

However, she was very hesitant about going towards the water and indulging in something as sinful as a bath right now. She wasn’t even sure if there was any food in there, and she had seen people lose their weapons before while trying to fish, so she wasn’t really willing to start fishing quite yet.

She knew that her mind would change, seeing as she was going to need food eventually, but she would cross that bridge when she got there. That was the easiest way for her to keep her advantage up.

She wasn’t going to be able to stay hidden forever, and that idea scared her.

Scared her more than thinking about her own death.

Scared her more than watching someone she actually cared about died.

Scared her more than the thought of what her sister was thinking right now.

She was scared of a lot of things, but she also felt like she had so much to prove. She wasn’t the weak girl from ten like the last girl was. She wasn’t afraid to fight. She wasn’t afraid to learn. That was what had set her aside from the people that tried to break her when she was reaped.

Bella was a fighter, and a damn good one at that.

And she wasn’t going to let anyone take that from her.

So she turned around and headed back to her encasement, to plan for her next move.

She laughed in the darkness. She laughed in the light

She would keep laughing because at this point, she was sure that she was going mad.

Or maybe she was just tired.

It was hard being here, staying awake just to make sure that your life was protected at all costs. Bella on the other hand, knew the only way she could be sure that she was going to survive was by not trusting anyone. Or anything that might have come her way. She wanted to be safe, and if that meant that she was going to have to go at it alone for a couple days, then, so be it. She didn’t want to join an alliance at this point because she would have been the expendable one.

Bella Rose wasn’t naïve. She already knew the ugliness that life could show her. That was why she didn’t try to step out of her comfort zone.

Trusting people could lead to death, and dying was something that she wasn’t ready to do.

Not yet at the least.

She decided to walk out of her encasement for a moment, spear in hand, getting ready for anything. She wasn’t afraid to fight, something that her private training session had taught her.

However, she did hate that she was alone.

Ever since her parents died, she had at least always had her sister. There was always someone with her and even when they both got annoyed with each other, Bella was always able to look past it and stay close to her sister. She was young after all, and the last thing that she wanted to do was ruin the relationship with the last member of her family alive.

The fire that burned their house down also burnt a hole in her heart after all.

She stood by the trees where her hiding spot was behind and looked out to see the beauty that was in the arena. Her vantage point was great, but she would need more than to be able to see who was coming in order to surprise anyone in the arena. She wondered if anyone would appear to ambush her.

She wondered if someone would come out of nowhere to stab her in the chest.

The heart.

The head.

She wondered if someone was thinking about her other than her sister.

Other than the people at the pound.

She wondered if Caine was alright. She was worried and while she could have took the initiative to look for them, it wasn’t her place. Caine had his people, and Bella had herself. That was the scary part of this whole situation. Bella was alone, and while she had people that she wanted to see, the blood bath changed everything. Euley was a wolf. Exar ran, and Gillian was a murderer. Everyone was ruthless now, and while Bella made some good memories with them, she was going to have to put those aside, because here, it was kill or be killed, and Bella Rose wasn’t going to let anyone bask in her death.

Not if she had anything to say about it.

So she sat by the tree for a couple moments, looking at the sun and then looking back at the water of the hot springs. What she was looking at was the rainbow that the water emitted as the sun struck it from above. Bella couldn’t help but smile, wondering why such a beautiful scene didn’t have the same effect because it was already tarnished in blood.

Everything she looked at now would be covered in blood.

Blood was the only thing that didn’t fit here, and yet, it fit perfectly as well.

Bella knew that her own spear was covered in blood. However, she wasn’t sure she regretful she was of that. Mercy Woods was in her way, and Bella had to fight to get what she needed. She could have grabbed more, but killing someone was something she wasn’t willing to do quite yet.

She needed a couple more days to make peace with taking a life before she could actually do it.

It would probably be her downfall, but Bella didn’t care.

She cared more about the people that were in here more than her own life. And Bella knew that was going to cost her something.

Bella however, wanted to live in the moment for now, and that moment was currently blinding her a bit, by the rainbow that was emanating off of the water. It was moments like these that she could feel a little bit at peace with herself. She could take the time to think about what she was going to do next. She could try to figure out who she was going to go after, and who might have been the best person to at least truce with while she was trying to get around the arena in one piece.

However, the cold was what was going to affect her the most. She wished she had a piece of wood or something to start a fire, but she didn’t, so she had to improvise the best she could.

She thought the walls of the igloo was enough for her right now to not feel the cold, but she also knew that she couldn’t stay there forever.

Soon enough, she was going to have to come out and fight for her life.

And she hoped that her first fight wouldn’t be her last.

Bella decided to head back into her igloo for now, knowing that she could take a moment or two to collect herself while she decided what her next move was going to be. She was hoping that she wouldn’t hear anymore cannon’s today, but she knew better than that.

She took her weapon and placed it on the side, her hand gripping it tightly while she sulked.

Bella had to be ready to protect herself.

Because here in the arena, you had to be ready to deal with anything.

That unfortunately, included death.

Bella felt the wind hit her hard, knocking her back into the rock that was behind her. She winced in slight pain but then took a deep breath, feel around to make sure that she didn’t break anything. Being up here did suck because the wind resistance was stronger than it would have been if Bella was deeper down the mountain, however, as long as she gritted her teeth, she knew that she would be fine. This wasn’t the time to complain about the situation, she just had to make the best of it. She didn’t want anyone to see her falter even though she knew that there was no use trying to be perfect. For anyone.

Even her baby sister, who was the main reason why she was trying to be strong. No one had to know about her weakness after all.

Weakness was the last thing that she needed to show right now, unless she wanted to bow out now and find the nearest tribute to slaughter her.

However, every time she looked around, she noticed that there was still no one around. And Bella knew that deep down, that was what she wanted. While she would have loved the company, she knew that company could become a liability, which was more drama for her to handle. Anything more would have been too much, and so Bella chose to be alone.

Alone was the only thing that she knew well here.

And while she hated it so much.

She preferred it to anything else.

She took a deep breath and decided that it might have been a good time to walk about the springs again, trying to figure out what her next move was going to be. She tried to look out past the trees to see if she could see anymore of the arena. While the scenery wasn’t allowing for the best viewpoint, she could still see some trees in the distance. For now she would stay where she is, but maybe she would head over there later. Right now, the only other thing except for food on her mind was warmth. However, without any wood, she wasn’t going to be able start anything tonight.

She shivered at that thought.

She was going to have to make do with what she had. Which was a spear, some bubble bath, and a couple other sorted items that were barely keeping her alive.

What she would do for a jacket right now.

She rubbed her hands together, trying to think of a way to get warm. There weren’t many options, but she did think about standing close to the water. It was worth a shot.

The water was letting off a heavy steam that seemed lovely right now. She decided to take a seat right there, thinking about using that bubble bath right about now. She wasn’t sure what else she could do with it besides throw it at someone and hope that the glass shatters in their face. She could only pray.

She looked at the water for a moment and thought about how much easier it would have been to just take herself out. At least it could have been on her own accord, and she could go out without letting someone get the pleasure of killing her instead.

She snapped out of the idea quickly though, remembering the promise that she made to all those children back home at the pound. She promised that she would try to win, and when Bella Rose made a promise, she kept it. Simple as that.

She walked away from the water, trying to clear her mind of the dark thoughts that plagued it so. She took deep breaths as she did so, calming her mind and her body. She went back to thinking about a warm place, like the summer in district ten, or the fire that burned down her house. As dark as that was, it was something that she could pull from. It was like the heat from the fire made her feel slightly better about her situation. She was still here, freezing, but now she could be freezing and thinking about her dead parents.

How depressing.

She heard another beeping sound out of nowhere, and watched as another box had floated gingerly towards her igloo. She decided to move towards it, taking baby steps because she didn’t know what to expect this time. Just because one was full of gifts, this one could have been full of omens. Bella also just had trust issues at this point.

However, she wasn’t going to let that stop her from doing whatever it took to survive out here.

So she went up to the box and opened it slowly, pushing the top off to find a fishing rod in it. Again, there was no message, just the item. Bella wondered if she had a secret admirer somewhere that liked her enough to give her such a useful tool.

She picked it up and took a deep breath, relieved that nothing happened other than her acquiring something new.

She pulled out the pole and looked at the water and decided this was the time if any to at least prepare for later. Catching a couple fish couldn’t hurt her.

The heat from the water emanated on Bella and she looked out to smile at the crisp blue water. Honestly, it was quite beautiful to look at. However, she didn’t know what to expect. What was in the water? That was what Bella was wondering. She took a chance and decided to cast the pole in there, hoping that something would bite. After all, the worst thing that could happen was that she caught nothing.

When the hook hit the water, she looked around to make sure that no one was around her. She wasn’t far from her encasing, but she could never be too careful after all.

The last thing that she needed was for someone to attack her without her paying attention.

However, Bella was always paying attention. Always.

Bella Rose took a deep breath and realized that she didn’t catch a thing. She just sighed, not knowing what to do right now. Did she sit there and go at another attempt? Or did she take a deep breath and give up for a moment. She put the fishing pole aside, taking long deep breaths in between. She was getting cold, and she was worried by the morning she would freeze over.

Holding out for hope was something that she couldn’t do anymore. Nothing. There was no point. Bella couldn’t stand around and do nothing. Nothing was going to make this better. This was a situation that she needed to figure out how to handle. But she knew herself. She wasn’t a career. She wasn’t trained in the art of survival. She wasn’t trained in the art of killing. No. None of it. The only thing she knew how to be was a mother. A mother that had everything to get back to. A family, a home, and a life that she meant everything too. If that wasn’t enough to make sure that she would survive, then she didn’t know what else she could do.

Except lay down and die when the first attack came swinging her way.

But she told herself that she would be strong. Strong enough to take on any career. Strong enough to take on a friend. Strong enough to carry herself to the finish line. She would go out with guns blazing otherwise. No one was going to stop her.

Not Aeson.

Not Euley.

Not Caine.

Not Gillian.

Not Dymas.

Not anyone.

She had to prove to everyone though that she was able to live up to her words. Her words had to become daggers that implanted themselves into the others minds. She had something to prove. She had everything to prove. She would show them all that she wasn’t afraid of life as it was, and right now, life was horrible. A nightmare that Bella would keep living until she died.

She didn’t want to sleep, because she knew she would see the same nightmare, over and over. So she wouldn’t if she couldn’t help it.

She was back in her encasement, looking out to see that her fishing pole was still near the water that she was by early. She knew that she dozed off for a moment, and she hated herself for it. However, this time, she wasn’t spooked by the vision of her body, dismembered and fractured. Instead, she had come to naturally.

That’s when the bubble bath came back into her peripheral and she decided that she might as well use the gift from whoever sent it to her.

Besides, it couldn’t hurt to take a bath for a moment. Even though she was in a tundra of ice and brimstone.

She walked up to the springs with the bottle in hand, dumping it into the water and watching the bubbles form. She stripped off her clothes, the wind striking her skin as she entered the water. She took a couple strokes to get into the middle for a second, feeling the warm water wash away any dried blood that was on her in places that she didn’t know about.

In this moment, she could help but smile, her naked body feeling alive for the first time in a long time. She swirled around in the water, feeling it relax her muscles, hoping that maybe, just maybe the water had some restorative properties.

The bubbles were just a fun addition to her bath time, and she couldn’t help but giggle when some of the bubbles erupted out of the water and onto the land. She felt at peace in a place where she knew where she was going to die. A rare commodity that she thought she would never come across. Something she would cherish until she was struck down. By whoever held the blade.

She found a ledge and sat on it, her hand flying out of the water to make sure that her clothes were still there. She felt for them and was relieved to feel them still there. She took a couple more minutes to relax herself in the water before decided that she had enough of that.

She got up and out of the water, noticing that there was a plethora of towels still around. She smiled, grabbing a couple of them and quickly and thoroughly drying herself off. She grabbed the top part of her suit and placed it on as she looked around to see the fishing pole still present nearby.

She dressed her body quickly, throwing the goggles back on before looked out into the water as the bubble’s began to disappear. That’s when she noticed the amount of fish that were around. She smiled, knowing that this could be her chance to catch something to carry with her for later. She took the towel and began to dry off her hair, feeling it start to freeze, she wrapped her towel around it, hoping that it would dry better when covered up.

She looked out at the water and smiled when she realized the fish were in there. So she grabbed her fishing pole and decided to cast the line one more time. When she thought she had a bite, she pulled up to find nothing. She sighed.

She was tempted to give up.

Her back was turned now, knowing that she wasn’t going to be able to stay here much longer. She could feel it in the air. She wasn’t safe anymore. People were moving. Everyone was restless. She knew better than to expect herself to be safe.

She was a target and she was always going to be a target. A seven meant that she had a chance to survive. A seven meant that she had a chance to win. She knew that walking into this arena, and she was surprised that she wasn’t attacked right off the bat.

Bella Rose though, knew that it was bad to question things that she had no control over. Maybe she was respected. Maybe she was liked enough to make it out without a scratch. Maybe she wasn’t a target.

She didn’t know. And at this point, she couldn’t have cared.

She just needed to go. She needed to run.

She left her igloo intact though, thinking about how she could come back here at some point.

She grabbed some water from the springs and put it in her canteen and also filled the empty bottle of bubble bath with some spring water. Maybe someone else wanted to experience it like she did.

She didn’t know.

As she was about to make her way out of the camp, she looked back at the springs and thought about how much she could have used those fish.

She sighed, looking back and thinking about how she wouldn’t give up until she got something that she could use. Of course, she had to get going, but she thought that one more try couldn’t hurt her. However, she mentally scolded herself for giving this one more go. She knew that she had to get going after this, less she run into something that she didn’t want to run into.

However, when she walked up to the water, she thought about how beautiful it was in this moment. She wished she could have stayed here for another day, but she knew better. She would have left too much of a mark, and that would have meant that she would have been a target in the next coming day.

She couldn’t do that. She didn’t want to be struck down too early. She wanted to survive here as long as she could.

There were people that she wanted to say goodbye too.

However, she didn’t know where anyone was, and she wasn’t sure if she had the time to go find them. She could see that nightfall was coming and that meant that it was probably going to get colder. She wished that she had a fire to keep her warm, but she had to make do with what she had. She would find a way to keep herself warm, and if that meant that she was going to have to keep thinking about her warm place, then she would. At least it was something that she could hold onto.

The water though did look warm again, and while Bella could have went for another swim, she talked herself out of it. This wasn’t the time for pleasantries, and there wasn’t time to waste. She had to get out of here, but she couldn’t help but think about how much she wanted to catch something. She didn’t want to upset the person that did sponsor the fishing pole after all.

Sure, it might have been a lost cause at this point, but Bella did believe in the third time being the charm.

So she stood from where she was sitting and pulled the fishing pole out of her pack before taking a deep breath.

She casted the lure, feeling confident that she was going to catch something this time. She could feel the vibration of the water reverberate in her hand and all she could do was smile. She was excited at her chances of catching something this time.

So she took a deep breath and when the time was right, she pulled it out of the water, hoping that there would be something attached to the other end of the water.

And she did, as she saw two fish come plopping out onto the ground in front of her. She used her spear to poke them in the eye, watching them slowly die in front of her.

As much as she hoped, she knew that this wouldnt be the first thing she killed her in the arena.

Or the last.

She sat back down, knowing that she needed to save her energy. She pulled the towel off of her hair and casted it aside, her long black locks unfurling into the big bush of hair that she has had since she was a baby.

She forgot how much she loved the hair that she had, and she wished she could have had time to maintain it the way that she liked to. However, that would have gotten in her way. She didn’t have time for self-care, but she did have to admit, the bubble bath made her skin feel soft, softer than it had ever been actually. She smiled, looking up for a moment and mouthing the words thank you so she didn’t give away her position.

She didn’t know who left it, and in the back of her head, she knew that it was probably left by the game makers, but oh well. That was something that she couldn’t help. She just had to trust that it was a gesture of kindness and that nothing malicious came of it.

After all, she had to admit, it was probably the most fun she had in a while.

And that was saying something given the situation that Bella was in.

She moved around the area, looking for the best place for her to go next. Everywhere seemed like a trap so it was safe to say that she felt like she was cornered.

If she had to fight though, she would. She would fight every last person that came her way.

After all, Bella Rose had a lot to prove to the people that doubted she could do this.

She might have been from 10, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to go down without a fight. She would put up a fight like Emberley Lowe did. She would put up a fight like Kraygon Truus did. She would keep on going until she was the victor or close to the end.

Then Bella Rose could die happily, knowing that she tried her best. Knowing that she gave it her all and tried to keep her promise to her sister.

She picked up her locket from her chest and opened it, surprised that it didn’t rust over yet in the snowy tundra. She had so much to say to her parents, but she couldn’t make the words. Not yet at the least.

She took a deep breath, closing the locket and keeping her hand around it for a moment.

She put the fishing pole back into her pack and wrapped the fish into the towel that she had used to dry her hair. She knew that she would be able to eat them soon. She just had to make a fire. She then began to wipe the footprints out of the area to cover her tracks. The last thing she wanted was to let someone follow to wherever she went. She sighed, knowing that she should have been more trustworthy of the people around her.

But no. Fuck that. No one was trustworthy here.

Bella knew that.

Bella had always known that.

Until she was able to prove it.
