Soft silence sits over shining silver snow. Externally the white world rings with deceiving beauty beneath two bright bodies. Internally piercing pain lays siege to every second of Eva's existence. Her fingers follow the path of punctures which now litter her sliced skin. Within the shuddering snow, her tears teeter softly on her lashes before plunging into the creeping cold. Death has already stolen two from her side. Death has already drawn dangerously close to devouring its weakest prey.
Beneath the bending brilliance of the lunar luminescence Eva's eyes watch the soft slumber of Exar. Her mind muddies with memories of tentative talks of fear and strength. If in that time he would have told her she would still be breathing by the dawn of the third day, naturally she would have denied such thoughts. Yet now she lies beside him, alone beside him. Her heart heaves with guilt as the sudden emptiness of the group closes in around her. She ensures that her eyes are cast to the floor of the white world when the anthem calls for attention in the star sewn sky.
Day brings movement and the brittle bones of Eva creak with pain. Anguish ignites Eva's eyes but silence sits solid upon her lips. Desperately she attempts to remain in pace with her partner, with her ally far more suited for survival than she. Just seeing how strongly Exar skates through the snow fields brings sorrow into the cold crevice that is now Eva's chest. Although she's survived this long her mind still denies any hope of living. Eva even dares to wonder within the confines of her head why life is even worth living if it comes at this brutally barbaric cost.
Lost within the lamenting of her misty mind, Eva eventually loses pace. Space spurs between her and Exar before she even realizes her faltering. Soon panic pierces Eva's eyes as only snow and the familiar spot of where they all began surrounds her. Her mind magically prepares for the worst. Exar will most likely leave her behind. She will most likely die in their time apart. Her confidence crumbles instantaneously into wickedly waging worry.
Within her solitude in the stained snow the sounds of labored steps seep from nearby. Initial relief for Exar's possible return extinguishes with sudden shock. Eva's fingers fumble as she slides her spear from its space on her side. Fear fully engulfs her shaking soul as the sight of some reborn human surely long sent into the dark comes stalking towards her. Yet there is another dark detail Eva begins to notice. Why is this girl so familiar?
Terrible thoughts twisted into turmoil are stopped short as sudden Eva thrusts her spear forward. In her mind the sound of Iroh's playing brings a second of composure before the certain chaos which is about to transpire.i've been running from the moon
