District Eight is so peaceful early on a Sunday morning. That's the main reason that Jory and I decided that we were going to spend some time together today. There were very few people out, as most of the businesses in town hadn't opened yet or wouldn't be open at all today. Spring had finally arrived, at least in some form. It was still quite chilly on some days, but other days, the weather was quite pleasant. Today was one of the more pleasant weather days, which I was grateful for.
When I was about to make my departure from my home for the day, I put on my boots, as I knew that the ground would still be a bit muddy from the rain that had been falling from the sky during the past several days. I also dressed myself in jeans and a t-shirt with a light-weight jacket, just in case it got a little chilly while I was out and about. It was early in the morning, but my father was already up and about, so I told him where I was going. He gave me a smile and told me to stay safe, which I promised him that I would. Then, I headed out the door into the fresh, crisp, morning air.
It felt nice, the light breeze that ruffled my hair as I walked. I needed a haircut, as my hair had been allowed to grow out for a little longer than I would have liked, but I was sure Jory wouldn't mind. He wasn't the judgmental type. At least, not as far as I knew. He'd always been a very kind soul towards me. Perhaps that was why I was so fond of him; he was always so nice to me and made me feel good about myself. I really like people who have personalities like that. They'd never harm another person unless they had good reason to do so. I like to think that that's how I am, too.
As I finally arrived at the spot that Jory and I had decided that we were going to meet at, I sat down on a bench. I was in a small park that was about a mile walk from my house. I often visited here on my own, and since both of us knew our way here and it wasn't too far from where either of us lived, we determined that it would be the best place to convene. I waited for about five more minutes until I saw Jory coming over hill in the distance. I stood up from the bench and waved my arm back and forth over my head to get his attention.
"Hey, Jory! I'm over here!" I exclaimed with a smile on my face.
