Stitch moved through the justice building and made his peace with the fact that he was going to die.
As much as he didn’t want to think about it, he knew that there wasn’t much he could do anymore at this point.
His life was signed, sealed and delivered and all he could do was accept such a fate.
His mother didn’t bat a single eyelash as she wished him luck in the arena, like she had already written him off. Like she was already planning on replacing him.
This made his blood boil just a little hotter than usual.
His mother didn’t value life the way that Stitch did, and as much as he wanted to scream at her that she would never mean anything to anyone, he knew that it wouldn’t matter.
At the end of the day, she didn’t have a heart, and Stitch unfortunately needed to learn the same thing.
Having hearts while going into the game was what got someone killed.
And so he tried his hardest to leave it at the justice building, because if he wanted to return, no, if he did return, then it would be waiting for him.
Sure, it might rot away, but that wasn’t important to the boy who only knew how to handle a needle.
The train was lush and full of color, something that he never thought he would see in his life.
A couple steps away was the victor and mentor of district eight, Shelby Levaine. A girl that he had met before, but he wasn’t sure if she remembered him.
And then the other tribute that was joining him on this rollercoaster ride from hell.
Neela Chiffon.
She seemed like a strong girl that did know of the injustices that happened here around eight. Someone who was ready to shred their skin like Stitch was and that was something that he could support.
He needed someone that could tell him like it was when it mattered the most.
Someone needed to keep Stitch as grounded as possible.
He moved to a seat that had a good view of the nature that was passing by him, not really paying attention to the other people that were on the train with him. His mind was already floating off into nothing, which was a sign that Stitch was starting to become resigned to the world around him.
His only comfort was the nature around him, and the fact that he was ready to be free from the chains that obviously held him back.
He looked at Neela and Shelby and wondered what they were both thinking in this moment.
”What do you think is waiting for us out there?” Stitch asked as he perched his head on his arms, looking out at the distance and not at the people that were around him.
He was already starting to slip into the world of disbelief.
The only place that he knew anything about.
