The Winchesters {D10 Family}

Deep in the outskirts of District Ten is a place where the industry of Ten thrives. A large ranch on the outer edge of the district stand tall as one of the biggest providers in the industry. Cattle roam the dusty ground searching for vegetation to live off of. The stables can be heard from a distance of horses that neigh into the echo of the land. A place that has been around since before the dark days of Panem building the industry of District Ten. A large family home resides with peeling paint and comfortable lights that begs for visitors to visit the warm and cozy space. A family that's had generation after generation reside in this home that they have. Welcome to the Winchester Ranch.

The Winchester family is known through the district as a family of traditional ranchers that keep businesses striving. A loving mother who is known to all as a caring figure for the plenty of children that they have. A professional father who runs the business side of their ranch and the man who taught all of their kids the basics of running a ranch on their own. The Winchester kids have been running the ranch themselves for years now while the father of the Winchester Ranch does all of the professional business work in town. A perfect family business that's thrived for years and years, generation to generation. A perfect dynamic that's worked in the Winchester Family since the Dark Days.

The children at a young age are trained to run the ranch themselves by their loving father. Roping tricks, horseback riding, and all things about cattle care are taught from the moment that they could speak. At the age of 8, each of the children are given a foal to raise as their own. Each child is put through the ropes of ranch training at a young age and are expected to work on the ranch for most of their childhood, until they are old enough to decide what they want to do with their life. Outside workers are hired on the occasion and typically trained by the older children in the Winchester Family.

On the ranch, you'll find the stables with a large amount of horses that are raised and taken care of. Fences of all sorts that hold in cattle to raised by the family. A barn that contains supplies and stalls for cattle. A stream on the outskirts of the ranch that had been Caine Winchester's favorite spot. A ranch home that holds the Winchester Family and provides a nice place for workers to sit down for breaks and lunch. The dusty roads that surround the ranch as the Winchester cowboys can be seen traveling the roads by horseback into town. Welcome to the home of Caine Winchester, tribute of the 78th Hunger Games.

Things are changing on this ranch that Ten has known for years. Generations that continued on the same track until Caine Wichester's name had been called. Children raised on traditional family values, but still supported in being different. A perfect family from the outside, until you look closely seeing the cracks among the family of cowboys. Will you follow the order of the past or blaze a trail of your own?

TL;DR: This is a plot about a family in District Ten that run a ranch. All of the children are raised to work on the ranch where they can, in fact they actually run the place for the most part. The family is very traditional in following the same cycle that generations before them have done, but with Caine's reaping things have changed and many of the children want more than just being a rancher. Taught and raised at a young age all of the things they need to know about ranching and how to take care of themselves without outside help from the district.

Characters//

Papa Winchester - tbd - Male -
Mr. Winchester is a business man who runs all the fiances and off site work for the ranch. Father of the Winchester children, he's always had a stricter outlook unlike Mama Winchester. The man taught his children everything they know about ranching and tries to teach them life lessons still. A very down to earth individual when he wants to be, but is blinded by business and the struggles of being both a father and a boss to his kids. Highly stressed out individual with no rest and is home always in time for dinner to see his family.

As a kid, he was in charge of the ranch just like Caine had been for him. A smaller and lankier kid, his own father taught him the business side of ranching. Not strong enough to be a rancher according to his father, he learned how to make do with what skills he did have. A smart kid and eventually became great enough to take over the family business with his wife. Used to not want to run the ranch, until his father and him had a falling out. His father soon passed suddenly forcing him to take over the ranch business and make it his family's own.

Mama Winchester - tbd - Female -
Mrs. Winchester is a stay at home mother who is in tune with her children. Soul provider of the house they live in, she works hard to make sure that none of her kids have to deal with a rotten home. Always seen in the kitchen cooking for someone else, whether it be a stranger, her husband, or any of the numerous children they have. She is the supportive mother in anything that he precious babies want to do. On the ranch, she gives a hand in lessons to the younger children and tends to be more of the healer in the family. Less strict than her husband, she is the one who listens to the children and talks her husband off the ledge. A loving woman who always make sure everyone is well fed at dinner.

As a kid, she was trained in the medical profession of District Ten. Learning from a district healer of plants and animals and the care both need. Her heart has always been on her sleeve and she's always been a dependable person from a young age. She met Mr. Winchester in school and fell in love at first sight. High school sweethearts, she ended up marrying him and following in the Winchester family like. After Mr. Winchester's father's passing, she took up the mantle of being second in command when Mr. Winchester is busy. Able to run most of the business side and regular ranching side whenever needed. A loving woman with a big heart is what the citizens always say about her. And always keep an eye out, she'll have a pie hanging in the window for those tired souls that want to rest.

Caine Winchester - deceased - 18 - Male -
The first child of the Winchester family, he was raised to be the perfect candidate for taking over the ranch. Always a follower of the rules and never breaking off from the expectations of his parents, he kept the ranch running smoothly. A silent man with a keen eye for knowing what was going on in the household, even when no one expected him to. A strong sibling that many of the others leaned on for support before he passed away. They remember him for the kindness and love that he shared with everyone, while also being stern enough to keep the rest of the siblings in line while working in the family business. His horse that he raised was named Abel to match his own name.

As the oldest, he never did want to run the ranch after he turned eighteen, but he didn't know what else was out there for him. Curious of everything beyond their little ranch, he dreamed of finding more than just this. Terrified of disappointing his father, mother, and siblings, he continued on ranching until the fateful day when his name was called in the reaping. Caine Winchester soon perished to Aeson Kight's weapon. He'll be a missing piece of the Winchester's hearts as they continue life on.

Jedidiah "Jed" Winchester - 17 - Male -
The second child of the Winchester family, he was raised to be a rancher like his other siblings. While Caine was a follower of rules and order, Jed didn't follow any of them. Always has been a rebellious soul and never liked listening to doing certain things certain ways. While Caine was still alive, he tended to miss days working at the ranch because of parties that he snuck out to go to. Always a party kid with lots of relationships that he enjoyed building while having fun. He's never wanted to be in the family business and is always getting in trouble with his father. His mother on the other hand, lets him do what he wants to as she understood why he was rebellious in their household. Always had a soft spot for him as he's always the one keeping younger siblings from trouble. Jed's been in quite a few fights defending his siblings from other people. Jed's horse is named Solomon.

After Caine's death, his father told him that he was now in charge of everything on the ranch. Responsibility was shoved into him right away and he's crumbling under the pressure of following in his brother's footsteps. A place that he never wanted to be in. While the ranch was his father's dream it was not Jed's dream. Waking up every day feeling more and more exhausted with time, he finds himself pushing himself to get up more days. The depression is seeping into him and all he can do is try to push himself to follow, but he's slowly breaking from the pressure. The longer his father pushes, the more rebellious he becomes.

Colt Winchester - 17 - Male -
The third child of the Winchester family, he's the most adept at crisis on the ranch. Colt thrives in danger and is always the one fixing problems along the ranch from injured animals and people to stampedes and criminals. As calm and collected as he is during times of emergency, he's the exact opposite in day to day life. Always has been the exuberant type with a voice that carries. Excitable and carefree towards everything. He's never been into the family business, but it's something for him to do rather than hanging around. Close to Mama Winchester who taught him the medicinal practices that she knows in District Ten. Colt was close to Caine and was typically the brother that told him to lighten up and look at life in a positive outlook. Always getting into trouble with his loud personality. Their father ends up entrusting Colt with the family heirloom that Caine had before his death. (It's an old gun passed down through the generations)

After Caine's death, depression set in for Colt. Things started to feel less and less exciting without his brother. More responsibilities were shoved into his hands after Jed had to step up as the son who runs the ranch. Dragging his feet along, he searches for a new outlook on life. Colt's still a loud personality and always knows how to be the life of the party, but things feel different to him. Much to his surprise, life finds a way to become exciting once again. Whether it be calm and collective crisis control, a new friend or love, a new hobby, or anything else, Colt seems to always find something to break him free from everything that sucks. Or it could be him continuing to run from his problems. That's up to the interpretation of others. The longer the ranch life goes on, the more dependable he becomes.

Avery Winchester - 16 - Female -
The first daughter of the Winchester family, she's the resident animal whisperer of the ranch. Always in tune with the animals, knowing what they need and how to help them, she became head of the stables. A grounded person within the Winchester family, she's always putting everyone in their place with quick wit. The smartest in the family, she knows more things than she lets on. Always an observant eye on the ranch. She knows when stuff is bothering others, but she knows better than to speak before they come to her. Calm and collected in every right, she is caring towards others. Close to everyone in the family, but her younger sister especially, she is always helping out where she can, whether it be in small ways or bigger ways. Avery minds her own business, but is ready to act whenever someone needs her to. Interested in their family's business to the point of asking her father as much as possible about the business. The problem is that she's third from getting the farm once she's old enough as her older brothers get first pick. Twin to Val.

After Caine's death, she's more than ready to help pick up her siblings from the heartbreak. Always on Jed and Colt's asses to make sure that they still do their jobs on the ranch since Caine's passed. Her own feelings towards Caine's death are valid, but she can handle herself and doesn't need to mourn as long as the others. Whether it was from the jealousy that Ciane would have gotten the farm or not, she got over it quicker than most others. Fixing all of her family's issues, she pushes to find something to make things normal once again.

Vallis "Val" Winchester - 16 - Male -
The fifth child of the Winchester family, he's the best roper of the family by far. If he doesn't have a rope by his side, something has to be wrong with him. He's always been attached to the skill and had the aim to prove it. Always seen out roping the fake cattle that Caine made for the smaller kids to practice on, he enjoys the feeling of a successful catch. In actual situations, he's the fastest on horseback and has the best skills for roping down a cattle that strays too far from the herd. All in all, he's a quiet guy. Doesn't talk much, unless needed to. Always calm and collected with calculated words. While Avery is the smartest in book smarts, Val has the most common sense of the family. He knows what to do when he needs to do it and knows when to back away when needed. He keeps to himself for the most part, but gets dragged along by Colt to all sorts of things. Colt and him always seem to be inseparable at events that aren't at the ranch. Colt is probably Val's closest friend, yet he doesn't share anything personal with anyone. Twin to Avery.

After Caine's death, not much changed for Val. Life moved on and Val practiced Caine's cool rope trick that he pulled of on skis, but instead slides down a hill to try to accomplish it. Vallis is just as calculated as before, but is more open to talking to his family. He understands the pain they are suffering from his brother's death, but he also wants things to move on. The parent-like friend in him continues to tell Colt when they should disappear from parties in order to protect themselves. He's still getting dragged by Colt to be more open, but never listens to his brother. After all, practice makes perfect. Maybe that was Colt's motto in getting him to socialize a bit more.

Scarlet Winchester - 15 - Female -
The second daughter of the Winchester family, she's the most inquisitive of the family. Always searching for different ways to do things at a better speed or with a better outcome. Always an overthinking mind, Ma calls her the type of girl that enjoys the science behind things than the reality of things. Always questioning certain aspects of ranching than actually doing the normal things. Rather unhelpful to the ranch overall, but she has been helpful in improving the overall quality. A fighter is what she was. Always questioning things that she shouldn't question according to her father. Scarlet was a rebel just like Jed, but doesn't get along with him. She tends to stray away from Jed's views and Jed in general as he isn't the kindest man. Closer to her sister who tries to help out where she can, Scarlet doesn't help, but is always intrigued in why her sister wants to.

After Caine's death, no much changed for Scarlet, except the fact that her sister took it in a way that stressed her out. Always helping out stresses the mind, but Scarlet is always there to pick up the pieces of her sister. She gets upset with her brothers, except Val, as the others are pigs in her head. Always concerned about being popular or getting laid, she always argues with them. Val is the only one that interests her as he's always quiet and none of them know what he's thinking until he speaks. Curious of the world they live in, she always is the one offering to go into town and to see the world of District Ten. Maybe even farther if she got her way.

Mathis Winchester - 12/13/14 - Male -
The youngest of the Winchester family, he's still in training from the other siblings and his father. Not trusted enough to start working on the ranch like the rest of them. Everyday, he spends out on the porch of the house watching his siblings herd cattle and go about the daily rituals of the ranch. Practicing to one day be like all of them and ranch like the rest of them. Mathis is a dreamer and loves to spend time thinking about how cool it would be to ride horses and rope cattle. His horse is still being raised by him. Mathis is the sweetest boy anyone will ever meet. Always greets people with the kindest of words and the most professional words too. Follows orders well from their father and is interested in what everyone else is doing. Mathis has had more time to be a kid than any of the siblings and is thus treated like one. Always below them in some way, but he still looks up to them as the best. And he always makes sure that they knows that.

After Caine's death, Mathis was kept out of the loop, even though he knows the same could happen to him. Mathis ignores the missing spot in their family dynamic, but tries to soothe his siblings struggles by letting them know they are loved. All is well in his world, but in theirs it is not, so he tries his best to prove himself. Training for the day that his father will finally let him become a rancher and cowboy. Spending most of his time helping out his mother around the house, he dreams of becoming like the rest of them. Dream big Mathis, things are always changing.
