Don’t let anyone watch you fall girl.

You were told from a young age that you would be a showstopper.

Someone who did not stop at anything because that was not the Sinn way.

Your family was one riddled in crime.

They were cunning, dark people who did not care about anything but making money and training their children.

They were adept in the art of deception, not because it was easy for them, but because that was the mark of the family.

However, Carmen did not grow up that way.

She grew up in a hot air balloon. Afraid to touch the ground because the helium that powered it felt safe.

Secluded.

Soft to the touch.

She floated in the air as she was raised to learn the art of the family.

Her mother fierce and her father stern.

They told her from a young age that she was going to be someone who did great things.

Along with her sister.

And the very idea of that scared her out of her misery.

But she didn’t quite see that side of her family until she aged up just a bit.

She was meant to be a career. Someone who wasnt afraid of going into battle on a moments whim.

Her father was hellbent on having one of his children come back home as a victor, and he put in a lot of time to make sure that this would happen.

But Carmen never really took to it.

Not the way that he wanted her too.

She was a strong girl, for being so young.

But Carmen lacked what her twin had. She did not crave her families approval. She did not care if her father got mad at her. She was not afraid to do what she wanted to do.

Sometimes it was for her to follow orders from her father, but there were many times when she simply refused. Carmen was not the type of girl that just bent over backwards at a mans simple whim. She did not like to be bossed around, she liked to be treated like an equal.

She wanted everything to be fair.

But that did not mean that she couldnt follow an order.

Sometimes she did what she was told because that is what her mother wanted of her.

Her mother had a certain sway over Carmen that not even she could explain, but then again, her father had the same type of sway over her twin.

The difference was: One of them was sweet, and the other wasnt.

Carmen could do the math from there, and she realized quickly she did not care about her father the way that she cared about her mother.

And eventually her mother took over her training.

It didnt take long for Carmen to excel like her sister did. Because her mom was a bit sweeter than her father was. Of course, this was relative because she wasnt that much sweeter. No one in the Sinn household was sweet.

Except for Carmen.

And after a while, she could not be stopped.  It took years for her to catch up to her sister, but Carmen was a go getter.  She did not stop for anyone.

Sometimes they liked to pit them against each other, because no one in the Sinn family could resist a challenge.  

Carmen also knew what her family did for work besides train them to be careers. 

They were trained to be bright eyed and bushy browed for the world to see.  Until they would snap, and become huntresses for whatever debt was owed. 

However, her mother always taught her how to have just a little more tact than her counterpart.  Elektra never understood what it was like to be kind, and maybe that was why they never seemed to get along. 

Carmen was able to see the good in people, even when she was hounding them for what they were owed.

They were owed nothing, but at the same time, they were owed the world.

And as much as it pained Carmen from time to time, she could at least find some sort of solace in trying to be stern.

After all, being stern could get her far, and if she did what she needed to do correctly, then she knew she would not have any trouble.

Though trouble was her middle name.

And no one understood that.  Because she was always seen as the good girl who didnt want anything to do with the life that her family lived.  Her own twin even judged her.  Called her different. 

Told her that she wasnt worth anything.

But that didnt stop Carmen.  Because Carmen was a girl who did not stop for anyone's criticisms.  She never looked back on her decisions, because she thought about them before she even acted.

That was the difference between her twin and her, she never miscalculated a step.

She was always thinking, always moving, always doing something in order to further herself.  Sure, she helped the family, but that did not mean that she also didnt want to serve herself.

She was gluttonous at her core, and Carmen only thought about herself when it came down to it.

She was exactly like her sister, but she would never admit that.

That was a lie she was willing to tell herself.
