Names lingering along his mind like they were the bones and flesh that string him together. A monster with pieces of others that hold him together with legacies lost to blood and a game where the only winner is death and fear. He’d have to send flowers to Saffron and Mace. Pretty ones for sorrows that he carries with every moment of Faline’s blade splitting the skull of Charlie. A deep breath as he watches the screen remember what Kirito had told him like an apology is what was going to comfort him besides a bottle of expensive wine. A sigh from his lips as he closes his eyes listening to their worlds in a dark room with no lights but the screen. A bag of popcorn and a bottle of expensive wine by his sides as he’s under the comfort of a blanket with an interesting texture that reminds him of the nights sleeping into Chester’s side.
Comfort in this blanket that feels like an escape from everything else going on. Stuck in the past of the horrors that his own hands have caused. Did he deserve to sit there with popcorn and wine and pray for children’s lives? Did he deserve to sit around and live while others may never get to? A life would be gone too soon and all he could do was watch with plans of comforting a broken family again. Memories of Ms. Khiev coming back to his mind as she cried on his shoulder. Memories of Aeryn Kight’s remorseful frown and anger filled fists banging against his chest. A sigh falls from his lips at the normality of this situation to him now.

Possibilities of being blamed for her death in his mind, but he couldn’t think of this. He wasn’t supposed to lose hope already for either of the tributes. All he could do was whisper to himself.

Memories of Ree Fer spitting at Teddy once again comes as Teddy stares at the water damaged and worn cards on the coffee table. Eyes glancing from the screen to the card and back again. Bullet wound and advice, but he can still feel himself forgetting the fear and letting it wash over as Chester gives in a bit more the next night.
Water brings him back to the wooden boat where Lux and him fight with determination as green eyes stare into brown. Victims and victors coming to life as Teddy remembers the weight of others on his shoulders. Lux Pelotte was the one who should have surpassed him, but Teddy had pushed farther than he’s ever gone before. A moment he’s there and the next he’s back on the couch like nothing changed.

Another apology to add to his ever growing list of grievances and failures that he couldn’t fix. Another name to add to his list of legacies that he would carry like a badge on him. Anyone who has come across Teddy will never be forgotten.
