Paint stains on his hands that he rubs on the jeans, not caring if anyone notices the color matches the artwork across the way from the Justice Building. Like the color of his mind, red coats his jeans with browns and blacks, anger and sorrow filling his head. Father wasn't happy about this or maybe he was, Vandal never could tell with that man.
The door opens and all he can do is frown at his young siblings, one who volunteered himself for death and one who was picked for death. A silent moment as he takes them in, Larceny and Auto had been inseparable since he could remember. The paint drying of his jeans grounds him as he moves across the room, watching his brother and sister with sorrow in his heart. They shouldn't have to deal with this. He should have volunteered to go with Auto, but he doesn't say anything. Fingers splayed out on the paint dried jeans with stress in his arms.
Words fall from his lips as he looks to his brother and sister.
"I don't care what father says. I don't care what it takes."
Fingers clenched into fists as he leans back and closes his eyes. They were so young. So much life that they could have left. Silence as he waits to ground himself and not fly off the wall in the Justice Building. Moments seem to stretch for hours as he opens his eyes more focused on them both. A smile on his lips as he continues speaking to Auto and Larceny. A rebel is what he was, but right now, he had to be their brother. They had to know he cared. Despite everything, they needed to know he wasn't happy about this.
"Both of you need to come home. I don't care how you do it. Blow capitol up. Escape the train. Fuck, refuse to fight when you make it to the end. Just come home, together."
He was not going to lose his little brother and sister. Even if he had to fight his way to the capitol and save them himself.
He would do it because that's how much he cares about them.
