I'm looking for a place to start
And everything feels so different now
Just grab a hold of my hand
I will lead you through this wonderland
several days’ passing, and i've underwent a plethora of changes — from coarse strands of wild hair, to smooth threads. jagged fingernails, trimmed to manicured disks. a crowd of stylists bathe me in products, oils, scents my common nose doesn't recognize. my skin is butter, slippery because of a cream fragranced so divinely.
the previous angel was only a cadaver now,
rotting with old bones and dirt and blood.
here sits an angel ready to seize the bright lights and holographic screens, beauty coiling inside my radiant cheeks. it's the prestigious ritual of embellishing your gladiator. we are to die dressed in wealth and beauty, as if it is some kind of compensation for our sealed fates.
we're just glided dolls, shattered in the end.
there's an avox nearby and absentmindedly, i say. “i want to go out.” then, after a few ignorant seconds spent waiting for a response, realization strikes me as lightning. features redden with a mix of embarrassment and guilt, immediately. “sorry.” gaze dances to his direction and catches him making a nod. feet rise spiritedly and match down the spacious hallways, hoping for adventure.
telltales forbid little boys from venture – the forest has wolves, the seas have the scaled beasts. i cross from territory to territory
until i find my predator.
it’s a fresh face, bold and strong and square-jawed, but handsome nevertheless. and, handsome works for me and my erratic, overflowing hormones. in the grotesque face of death, my libido and alcoholic tendencies soar. the latter couldn’t wait anymore –
i haven’t had a whiskey on the rocks in days.
“want to join me on my little crusade, babe?” hand leans against the wall to prop my body up. brown eyes coruscate at him, a plea tucked between his gaze.
“i have an incredible booze detector, but no strength to knock someone out if i get caught - which is where you could come in.”Water up to my knees
But sharks are swimming in the sea
Just follow my yellow light
And ignore all those big warning signs
