Carter is alive.

The words still feel fake in his head as he stays in the pitch blackness of unconsciousness that feels safer than the real world. The fire in his chest that had once burned feeling so empty now. The way Mitchell had smiled at him like he had known this was the truth. That he was always meant to live in this world. Whispers of lives that have touched him just barely on his skin just like the reminders of terror that linger in bandages to be scars of the death of his humanity. No longer a regular kid, but a boy who had once thought killing was the only way. A deep breath as the blackness becomes one with the room that he resides in. Harder to breathe than before as his eyes blink awake.

Almost screaming, he feels his eyes go wide in the light and the pain filter in. Eyes glance down his torso as he can see the leather boots squeezing the cable that's in his nose. Nothing as fancy as what they have in District Twelve. The Mortuus' might know what it was, but he doesn't dare ask the person who is there. Eyes glance to the older man who's lips linger with the indigo that makes it harder to breath again. Fingers don't move as he watches the man put on the indigo lips that were once like his own. Out of all people, Glamour Kinkade was not the first person he would want to see at his hospital bedside, especially if he was dead still.

"Miss me?"

Eyes roll as his feet let him breath once again. Despite him either being alive or dead or somewhere in between, he didn't lose himself in the end. Carter Laws still lives beneath his skin. The muffled words reach him still as Glamour Kinkade is on his good side where words actually functioned like normal in the air. A silence before Carter lets his pained breath out of his lips.

"No."

Eyes glancing past Glamour Kinkade and to the wall the far side of him. Worry now setting into his jaw as he can feel the tension grow. Tension in his body from the sight of Gamemaker Glamour Kinkade. Did Glamour want him as a personal pet or something? Could they even do that? Probably. Instead Carter lets his mind wander to the most likely of things besides being alive. He lets his tongue speak the words with a serious tone in his lips.

"Are you the devil?"
