I'm not allowed to do much outside the house these days. But I understand why. Mama and Papa just want to keep me safe, which given what's happened to my family, I don't blame them in the slightest. My brother lost his life to some "jumped up thugs" as Mama said when I was young, and my other brother contracted an infection in some wild daredevil stunt that also killed him a few years ago. I'm the last one, so they want to keep me safe.

And yeah, it does get lonely sometimes, leaving the house only for school and stuff like that. But I don't mind, not really. There's books and journals and sometimes they bring home half-finished things for me to sew. Plus, it's much better than the alternative, with the world out there having harbingers of death and the looming shadow of the Games and everything. I'll be free from that in a few years and then maybe I'll be free from my confinement as well.

But for now, I don't mind. Mama and Papa will keep me safe. I know they will.
