The setting is a fighting ring, twenty meters wide by twenty meters long, with a small crowd gathered for the spectacle. Trainers, trainees that didn't make the cut, excited family members, and the odd curious citizen make up the audience as the two fighters step into the ring.

Once both combatants are ready, a bell rings - and the match is underway.

This fight consists of Katarina Hammerfell (Arrows) versus Trigon Sama'el (Marr)

Katarina Hammerfell

There was no choice. When his words reached my ears they were orders. Under his command my name was entered, my decision made. We are warriors bred from blood and constantly striving to better our failures. Fallen figures haunt my mind but their successes shine in my shadows. Brothers lay buried beneath the earth I am connected to. Through the soles of my bare feet I can feel them fleeing, their presence fleeting with the decay of death. But with the coming storm of surging fighters searching for glory, I will bring their names back from mere memories. In this instance of hunger and desire, I will drive their lives back into the light lit by the power of my passion.

Voices volley from the corners of the arena, stares shoot free from angling eyes. Here before in a conclave before those of my home I am steady and my breaths are easy. The girl before me holds hell fire within the illumination of her irises. She is here for her own reasons, ready for her own destiny. Today are fates fight one another. Today together we determine which path we each will follow. I draw my glaive forth into the slim shining rays of sunlight.

"Let's fight fair and true." I say staring back into her burning gaze, "My name is Katarina Hammerfell, but you can call me Kat."

Sauntering eyes befall upon the tournament to be held. Slanted eyes draw into the crowds that have come to see what sparked such a debat with the games finals coming. Fingers flex tenderly as she grabs a weapon, not one in particular but with a fondness towards a larger blade, but just a bit smaller so. Her opponent stepped into the ring before she did, and the amount of mass against her tiny form was daunting but as she's found, appearances were only just. If this larger opponent wanted to take her on, then who was she to back out.

Besides, she needed to make sure that her name was never forgotten. Even in the meelee of a fair or unfair fight. "Let's fight fair and true." She scoffs with a huff. Her head shaking from side to side.

"I doubt that you can play fair if you tried. Then again, I don't fight fair." First strike hits hard.

Devoured soul of her own slinking through her heart. The axe held tighter. "Oh nice, you don't fight fair, do you? I like you already."

Katarina Hammerfell

She is small but she is swift. Her steps glide in graceful mirroring of the wind. Several shouts stir from the watching eyes. The storm has begun and the clouds are crying with thunderous roars. My toes tear deep into the dirt and a slight down trend sinks my face into a shadowy sulk. Her movements are mesmerizing, but deadly with their intent. She is small but she is worthy of absolute attention. Her steel stings across my wrist driving deep into my flesh, my first error. I can almost hear my brother's berate me with anger. They're right, damage can only outdo speed if kept consistent. I tighten my grip and remember their lessons.

"I like your style," A genuine compliment as I remember my brothers' final moments, recall their errors, and ensure I learn from them. "But I don't think you know what truth in battle is. It's fighting for something other than just that, it's fighting with meaning."

Speed was her victor and strength belonged to her opponent. She could tell that already just by the mere strength it took to almost completely sever her arm. However, there is so much that she's learned from the streets. If one is scared or intimidated, then you might as well go home. Trigon was not either of those. Instead, she pushed forward despite the odds. It wasn't odds that let her slink into the bedroom of a bully to ward them from her sister's well being.

Skill is what makes a career. With the whispering wind, a compliment should find her ears. But compliments don't belong in the ring as much as a toddler. With a crooked smile, she drops to miss being hacked by the girls glaive. "Oh, but I do fight with meaning. It just means something different to me then it does to you, Hammerfell. I fight for me. Maybe you should let go of past aspirations and fight for yourself instead of your fallen?"

Katarina Hammerfell

There is a moment of stillness sewn into existence by the silence of the thunder. Each of us strike air danger dangling in our intention but failure filling our actions. Amidst the momentary pause of surging struggle, she speaks again in a voice lighter than my own. Some truth taints the words she wields like shields to her skin, but a great falsity also fades her message. She claims the weight of the dead should be freed and sunken to the bottom of the ocean of the mind. However, she clearly does not know the value of such sorrowful shackles. I choose to act upon my own accords, to truly earn what we have always been fighting for.

"You're mistaken, I don't fight for the fallen. I let history and our family's desire drive me." I move. "You have your reasons and I have mine. As do all fighters."

Flesh wounds were nothing, and just as the girl had missed, Trigon found the opportunity to mock her in a fashion. Her moment to flail the axe let the weapon soar upon air, slicing through the non existant breathable content hoping that the girl would catch her drift. Pasts were to be forgotten like cutting the still air. It was dead.

Hammerfell was a force that was like an earthquake. Dangerous ground she was standing on fighting this hardcore career. It was a desire she heard in her voice though. Trigon was mistaken afterall though. She didn't hold on to the past, but let the present and future warp her tentrils to the exact movements needed to take down her opponent.

It cut deeper then her own axe. Pain was new, this type of pain afterall. "I do have my reasons and I have them because of people like you."

Another step forward, another stinging strike back. This girl has pure passion driving her demands for victory, but I sense something amiss within her skeleton. I recall the knife which insanity drove into Orion's eye. I remember the horde which devoured Mason's life. In this instance I can clearly recount every second that resulted in the loss of a Hammerfell life. Each of us was powerful, each of us driven and trained. But at the precipice of success we stumbled into the shadows. For them and for our name I cannot simply overlook these events. Here this girl is my opponent, and here I will respect her as such a threat until the end.

"You should look deeper for your cause, I think you will become an even stronger fighter. You are strong."

They all were.

Immeasurable by size alone, the winner had already been predeterminded if you'd look at that one calculation. However, Trigon's speed that surpassed the elder Hammerfell was no match at all. Careers fight and fall all the time, but for the crimson pools that trailed down her arm and back it was almost an infinite style of failure that pinged her lack of a good heart to become dismal. Losing in front of all the spectators, what would that say about her skills to sculpt fear for those that dare to wrong her or her family?

One more movement had the glaive soaring for her middle after already taking but two attacks. The stab was more potent, life threatening even, and lasting as she felt her breath go.

The breaking point of the fight - Trigon was done. Immediately, a hand came up. Her body crashing to the ground. A hand to cover the gaping hole. "You... I demand - a rematch." Her eyes captured the girls with a newfound adventure just waiting to happen.
