REGALIA STROMSTATT
80th games mayoral candidate
"Hi, y'all. Thanks for braving the weather," she began, leaning into a gust of wind. "It's such a privilege being up here, speaking to y'all. As you mostly know, I've spent a good part of my life helping out in the District Center. I know many of your faces from the market, the bakery, the blacksmith. I've been helping my brother make sure the District runs nice and smooth from the inside out. It's been the best on the job training - even though I didn't realize it at the time!"
She finally took a breath, a big gulp of air, before barreling on. "See, I didn't even think about running until Mace let the family know he was happy with his five years as Mayor. Like many of you, it came as a terrible shock. I went to bed that night thinking: what is my crazy brother thinkin'!? Giving up the opportunity to better things, to see our visions for more roads and more commerce come to a halt. I woke up with the realization that we didn't have to stop all the good projects and good work we'd been doin' since the 75th. Nope. We just needed to change leadership."
"I'm here today to tell y'all that I want to be that leader. Maybe I ain't quite who you expected to enter this race, and maybe you're tired of hearing Mayor -statt called out. I ain't asking y'all to vote for me on account of Mace. I'm askin' y'all to vote for me because I love District Ten, and I want to keep doing us proud. I want to continue to work on infrastructure, to connect the most distant farms to the market in the heart of the district. I also want to focus on families, on helpin' those who are barely gettin' by, especially single mothers. I want to listen to y'all, to hear what's workin' and what ain't. I want to be your Mayor."
She stepped back from the microphone, a smile splitting her face in half. She lifted both arms, waving. "Thanks y'all for listenin'! There'll be more to come!"
