COVE MERRICK
district four mayor candidate
"Think back on a time, well, let me just start by saying, how can we really level the amount of difficulty something has against someone else? We all handle things differently. No two persons are alike as with their situations, so my difficulties in this district are no more important or less important than that of fellow Candidates Perch or Farzaneh. I will exact a moment in my life when it was particularly hard to swallow and I had to grow up fast."
Cove stares into the crowd, his eyes surveying all of those listening and with a breath his voice rang out again. "In my earlier speech, you might have heard me talk about a few past tributes. For me, those tributes were the most precious yet difficult things that have happened to me starting when I was only a mere eleven years old with Windy Mathers. I had to grow up fast and I had to endure heartbreak after heartbreak. My heart was beaten with the loss of every kid I lost growing up, my friends, and every child I had to watch go into the games. It is, with hope, that I was even allowed to think that one day we may once again welcome home a tribute of district four, not to bury but to celebrate. For once, my heart is flittering with joy. For once, the hope that I have buried deep with has been opened with the return of two of our children." Cove brings a hand up, waving it lightly back and forth. "This is how I proceed to wake up every morning - it's knowing that we might have this opportunity where our children will be able to come home safe."
