Sleep had evaded the mayor candidate as unfortunate dreams plagued his mind. The debates had been rough and his partner for them seemed to dig deep, almost trying to get him to loose his cool. Expecting him to lash out as she had been doing. It was with the experience of patience always surfing with his other beach goers and surfers alike, that waiting on the biggest wave was worth it. He wasn't about to give up at not cost though. His people of district four needed something new. Cove knew that their district need someone who was willing to take care of everyone not let it go to someone who felt they were privileged to take the victory nor someone else that had been absent the whole time.
Still, Cove sat at the water's edge letting the waves slowly greet him in a morning glorious fashion. His board laying beside him as he rubbed the surf wax on it. The movements put an authentic smile on his face, if only just a small grin as he glanced to the ocean in front.
The anticipation was drawing forth.
"Althea Perch, if you are meant to take the position, I can only pray that you take care of this district. Preserve everything from the people to the rich sands that scatter the beaches. If it is my destiny to take the election, I pray that I will gain the knowledge to never let the district be ignored and let down again." Three more circles around the surf board was the limit as the candidate watched the sun begin to peek over the water. The colors were already mixing in the sky just moments before, but the tiny thumbnail of light gave Cove enough hope.
"Lets catch a wave." Cove took the board, stepping into the ocean and began to paddle himself out to the suns peeking rays. With every stroke, it was like the ocean was calling him home. It was where he was meant to be. Great strides were made as he pushed through the almost lapping waters knowing that the surf would soon pick up. The waves felt almost like everything he was going through. "We can do this."
He duck dived through the next wave, holding tightly to his board exiting through the surface a moment later. His heart began to race as he dug into the water even harder.
