PLOTIn the heart of District Two, the elite are at play. Once granted entry through the stone walls, the lavish academy within promises to build the perfect career. There are five instructors, each of whom teach one of the five subjects the academy believes are pieces to building an ideal potential tribute. The students are hand picked by professionals and live in dorm rooms within the academy. They are permitted to see family and friends every Sunday, and are forbidden from having any outside contact otherwise, barring family emergencies.
For each exam a person passes, there are more privileges awaiting. That is, to say, a person with no achievements gets nothing special, while someone with one pass gets an hour of free time on Saturday, a person with two passes gets to leave campus for any day of the weekend once per month, a person with three passes gets to go on the monthly field trip, a person with four passes gets to take a vacation week, and a person with all five gets the title of Divergent.
The classes and their instructors can be found below:
Lyssie Gillovich teaches Abnegation. Students learn how to be selfless, how to find the things within themselves that others want, how to give themselves away while still holding the power in their hands. In a sense, Abnegation is about crafting a persona the Capitol would fall in love with. If a student wishes to pass Abnegation, they must be convincing enough for Lyssie, a makeshift sponsor, to spend her money on them.
(Public Interest.)
Davie Donahue teaches Amity. Here, students are taught to remember their humanity, or to find it, if they've never had it to start with. Students are taught how to pick their fights, how to use means other violence to get what they need. To successfully pass the Amity examination, Mr. Donahue must believe, with absolute certainty, that the heart within his student is still beating somewhere in there. (Compassion.)
Wilhelmina Saul teaches Candor. This class is about acceptance. About recognizing every piece of you, knowing the things about you that are spectacular and trying to fix the parts of you that need improvement. There is no technical exam at the end of the year. Students begin trying to pass this class from day one, where a growth chart is kept and their behaviors and improvements are documented daily.
(Growth.)
Gregor Bellafonte teaches Dauntless. (Assisted by Halcyon Antoinette.) Here students learn how to fight, how to use every weapon imaginable. They are also expected to recognize fear, but never let it overcome them. Students pass this class by finishing a rigorous physical test. The trick is that only a certain number of applicants are permitted to pass each year. (Athleticism.)
Nelda Scranton teaches Erudite. The tedious parts of victory are instilled in students here. The knowledge of which plants are edible and which are poisonous, the knowledge of which muttations are the most dangerous and which can be used to their advantage. The knowledge of how to survive in a frozen wasteland as easily as a scorching hot desert. In order to pass Mrs. Scranton's class, students must miss less than ten answers on the 200-question written exam she gives them.
(Intelligence.)
If a student manages to pass each of these courses within their short four years, they are named Divergent, and given master status. Divergent students will have housing paid for by the Academy, as well as have rank over everyone at the academy if they should age out of the reaping, or have first dibs on volunteering within the academy if they're still reapable. So far, no one has been given this status, and achieving the title alone is, perhaps, the greatest perk of winning at this point.CHARACTERS

Your charisma has taken you places, dear Romeo, and while you are good at feigning interest in others, the truth is that greed is your god. You give nothing away and expect everything in return, lipstick on your shirt collar, a front row seat with your name on it. You expect great things from yourself, Romeo. The question is: will you let yourself have them?

✘✘✔✔✘AGE: 16 (played by Tom)
When your talent didn't speak for itself, your father's money did. You live with the secret that he paid through the nose to get you into the program, and you spend every day trying to prove yourself to people who don't know any better. The truth is your're talented, Cash. More talented than you realize. Hopefully you realize that before it's too late.

✔✘✘✔✘AGE: 16 (played by Ryan)
You're a strange thing: dorm room decorated with insects you caught yourself, always finding beauty n the ugliest things. But you have heart, Enigma, despite your refusal to let other people see it. You'd sooner make up stories about yourself in order to fit in than just tell the whole truth. No one knows what is up or down with you, and it's something you've enjoyed keeping a secret all this time. But the best careers are the ones people want to win. Talent only gets you so far.

✔✘✔✔✘AGE: 14 (played by Zoe)
You're one of the youngest in the program, but your natural talent is undeniable. You're already sharing rank with the upperclassmen, and this brings you as much hardship as it does glory. You're a ruthless fighter, almost mechanical in your precision. But the lingering fear is that your disinterest in humanity will lead you to be your own undoing, Shadow. You've embraced the darkness of yourself, but you must find the light.

✘✔✘✔✔AGE: 17 (played by Dars)
You are a bleeding heart, an almost foreign object in the Divergent Academy. You know your story, you know when to pick your fights. The issue is that you aren't all that sure you'll win those fights, and your hesitance shows. This late in the game, any move you make is watched under a magnifying glass. You have one last shot to make yourself great, but if you miss the mark it's game over and you're back to painting pictures in your bedroom and yearning for something more.

✘✔✔✔✘AGE: 15 (played by Calla)
You accomplished something few have ever done, Savant. You passed your year one Erudite evaluation. Since then, it's been what you're known for. You're the brains everyone else seems to be lacking, but you're already worried that's all you'll ever be. You are good at theories and wondering, but blades still feel foreign in your hands and you're too reserved to be comfortable giving yourself away. You still have time, Savant, but not as much as you hope for.

AGE: 16 (played by Fireflyz)
You are your worst obstacle. Not only do the drugs pumping through your system refrain you from reaching your full potential, but if someone were to catch you sneaking them in through the back gate, you'd likely get expelled. Maybe even arrested. You think you're doing the world a favor; you've always been able to recognize your power, but you are afraid you can't control it.

✘✔✔✘✔AGE: 15 (played by Charade)
Delicate. That's what they call you, Porcelain. A hard shell easily broken to reveal the hollowness inside. You're kind to a fault, some may even say spineless. But your truth is your own and you've accepted who you are. Some people are born to be killers; others, like you, have to fake it until they make it. It's strange, being in a place like this, where having a heart seems frowned upon by your peers. The trick you must learn is to keep your heart beating and still find away to be okay with stopping everyone else's.

You really, really like violence, Midnight, and despite being younger than a lot of your rivals, you're still on par. You have a secret, you see: nothing this place can throw at you could be worse than the things you've already lived through. You don't mind who knows. The scars are too bothersome to hide, anyway. Besides, they are just a reminder of your growth; you're now one of the most talented students in the academy, and you never would have lived up to your potential if things had gone differently that day.

Color, cut and clarity- you were built to be a beautiful thing, but you sharpened your edges just as soon as you figured out how. And now you're an embodiment of power, with advanced social skills that put you ahead of the others. You walk ahead of them and they don't usually try to change that, but you still have not done the unthinkable just yet, even though you know you'll be the first to. Passing two finals in one year means splitting your focus, and spreading yourself thin. It's no secret that pressure only makes you stronger, Diamond, but tread carefully. One wrong step and you'll end up being semi-precious.

When it comes to who you are, you're still searching for the answers, Labyrinth. You could tell them that, unlike Haze, the things you inhale are in an attempt to escape a harsh reality- one you may not be strong enough to to battle against. You could tell them that you're a good friend: that you protect what is yours, but then you'd also have to admit how selfish you are as well. Hot and cold, indifferent and passionate, you could tell them many things. But the fact is that you don't know who you are, Labyrinth, and while you are desperate to find out, you're also terrified of what the answer may be.

You are such a young and curious thing. Still brimming with childhood innocence, the product of a rather happy upbringing. You know you are inexperienced; you know you are nonthreatening, and you know the road ahead goes on for miles and miles, but you are so eager to learn. The teachers have taken a shine to you, whether you realize it or not; anyone who always has questions, who emits such a positivity in the classroom, is deserving of reward. And perhaps you will get yours some day soon, little Mouse.

✔✔✘✘✘AGE: 16 (played by Emsrocks)
You love the finer things in life, and even more, you expect them to come your way without putting the work in. Pride is your greatest sin and your biggest strength; you know exactly what you are capable of when you're willing, Lace, but the question is: when is it time for you to lift your perfectly-manicured finger and do the work? You've done a good enough job of making people think you're a team player. Good enough to pass amity, and your talent has proven itself in the field of dauntless but your time, like everyone else, is running out. Silver-tongued, golden is the crown that awaits you, and you see it. You see yourself ruling this academy, this district, this world. Let's see if your dreams can come true.

You've never loved things, so much as grown addicted to them, Fiend. Back of the class, eyes red from self-medicating, fingers restlessly tapping along the surface of your desk, mind alight with all the things you want- things you need. You aren't exactly an easy person to love, with your biting words and your supposed indifference, but you do care. That's your secret. You care about too much, everything all at once, and the only way to cope is to shutdown and close the world away before it is you, dear Fiend, who gets hurt.RULESTHE ACADEMY- it is structured almost like a high school, meaning all students are within the ages of 13-18 and attend scheduled classes.
- students are taught each of the five courses every year, and must take an exam on each at the end of the year
- if a person fails all of their exams, they are removed from the program
- once a person passes an exam, they do not have to pass the exam again unless the instructor feels that they are lacking.- students may retake exams if they feel they can do better than before, but if they fail, their original pass is retracted.- in order to be divergent, a person must have passed all courses before they age out of the reaping
- if a person has not achieved divergent status, it is very much like they are graduating from school. what they do next is up to them.SCHEMATICS- the process of the exams will be similar to the mayoral election, meaning some aspects depend on the character's activity, while others are up to the fate of dice
- they'll be designed to be challenging; achieving divergent status is meant to be difficult!
- when the time comes, i'll post the exams here; students may reply in personal threadsMISC.- please note that the names are not actual names, but titles. when you apply, you'll need to come up with a name for the character.
- this is not a first-come, first-serve plot
- if a person is inactive, I reserve the right to remove them from the plot and replace them with others who are interested
- if a lot of people show interest, I’ll probably make a second batch of charactersFORMwanted character title:
