Name: Agnes Sweeney
Age: 15
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
Agnes has always been one to pay careful attention to her appearance. She has an idea of how she wants to present herself and so she puts extra effort into designing that persona. A persona of royalty, luxury, but with a soft spoken humility. She has soft, blonde, wavy hair and quite fair and delicate skin. Two big doe eyes, and a warm and inviting smile. Her imagination often leads her to have quite a whimsical quality as well, often lost in thought or with a furrowed brow in concentration on analyzing someone.
She dresses quite innocently, in lots of pastels and flowing things that move in the wind. And, of course, being from the first district lends her to quite the knack of accessories, so she's often wearing several bangles or earrings or a couple of pendants... and sometimes all of them at once. Although she likes to be a soft presence in the midst of a fast pace and aggressive district, she does have a distinct essence of spontaneity which prevents her from being plain.
Although a little on the long and gangly size, her posture still remains quite pristine... unless on the off chance she's decided to wear a heel, then she struggles to maintain her lovely and innocent side because she's too focused on making sure her ankles are in check.
Personality:
Agnes Sweeney believes herself to be an astrologer. More specifically, how they translate to personal relationships. She fiends on cosmic alignment and feels like she has a true understanding of herself and those around her based on their astrological sign. Although quite difficult to find in the grips of District 1’s lifestyle, her peers view her as a beacon of oddity and mystery for this very reason. It’s difficult to be in a conversation with Agnes without it being brought up, whether it be interpersonal between her and someone else or someone else and someone else, she always has something to say about it, and greatly enjoys the feeling of letting others in on what she views as some interdimensional secret between space and time. Agnes is very passionate in her astrological beliefs and plans on starting her own astrology/gem-slinging business. She has had much time in her mostly quiet ways to do all of her research. She’s read all of the astrology books at the district’s library and is also a strong advocate for the importance of reading… people are okay with being ignorant if they don’t read, at least in Agnes’ eyes.
Aside from her obsession with astrology, she pairs well with reading, but the amount she’s read has made her most confident in herself and in her brain’s abilities. Although some may think that reading is a sign of weakness, she uses it to fuel her to a point of cockiness. Of course, this isn’t that hard to come by in District 1, but Agnes definitely feels like her nose must be a little up in the air. Knowing everyone’s deepest secrets just from deducing their sign helps Agnes in her endeavor of presenting herself as most becoming, she simply thinks highly of herself because she’s quite smart and she knows it. She seems oblivious to the fact that she is severely lacking in the social department. She can get along with people well but her overbearing invasion of people’s privacy and the fact that astrology drives her every move means that she doesn’t have too many friends, but she does cherish the friends she does have.
History:
She grew up with one sister, two years older than her. They’ve always got along quite nicely and have been close growing up. Agnes herself had a pretty spoiled upbringing, and like many District 1 denizens, she never had to struggle for much. Her problems came with the privileged things in life, like being told no to her incessant requests of eating more cookies, even though she’d already had 3.
One thing that her parents found paramount in her upbringing was the vast expanse of knowledge in the world there was found in the medium of books. Agnes’ parents were quite a bit zany and busy, especially with Dad being in an authority position at a local jeweler. District 1’s priorities were on providing luxury items to the Capitol, but of course there was always a surplus and Agnes’ father just so happened to know a guy who had “access” to a surplus. Although his business was a little illegal, they surely never let the girls know that. Apart from Dad running this underground jewel selling business (he actually spent most of his days one of the factories, quality monitoring product), he still made all the moves he could to be a stand-up guy and role model for his children. Mom was definitely no different, and provided in every way that she knew how. Agnes has never wanted for anything that things that don’t truly matter, although she would beg to differ on whether or not they actually did.
Agnes’ love of astrology came around the age of 12, early adolescence. Throughout her adolescence years she grew with the words of the dozen astrology books at the library, making notes in note pads and studying them like they were an important exam. She stayed and continues to stay up quite late at night to study the stars, and has become in tune throughout her 3 years of education to make a few accurate guesses in a star’s alignment, and continues to be comforted in a house with parents that love her and a sister that, although agitates her at times, also loves her. Agnes looks up to her sister and those her superior.
