thoughts of the forgotten | {adrien}

As far as roommates went, Blaine wasn't all that bad. He was loud, sure, but he didn't snore and he kept his side of the room neat. Really, Adrien was probably the bad roommate. He stayed up well past midnight, scribbling down floor plans and blueprints and, spinning gears together in his palm while he thought. He would've been annoyed if the roles were reversed: he knew that. He'd been trying to do this in the library for the past few weeks. Several times, he'd found Amrin with her nose buried in a novel, snacking on blueberries. He'd also caught Indigo snoring and drooling onto at least three of the historical documents only he was interested in enough to even attempt to read.

Adrien looked up at him then. Indigo snored. He also had a way making everything seem a bit endearing, a way of making things that would normally set Adrien's teeth on edge seem charming in a strange, indirect way. Like a puppy who couldn't help himself.

His eyes fell back to the drawing in front of him. He'd titled it Indigo's Wonderland. There was a library, a hemp clothing shop, a pizzeria, and a bakery called Edibles. But the centerpiece was a large glass dome with a sliding door entrance. The name over the door was called Gerber Tech. Adrien could imagine him walking around with one of those obnoxious white lab coats, looking down at his clip board and saying important scientific things to his employees.

Truth was, Indigo had the talent to have something like this even if he, by some miracle, was not chosen to take over Nox Industries. He'd be fine. He'd be more than fine. Adrien watched glanced up at him as he snored again and wondered if he knew that.

He turned the page past Poppy's Playhouse and Exhibits by Whitney, and Violet Earth smiling at the goofy buildings he'd dreamed up. Finally, he came to a rest at his own page: Adrien's Place. He stared at the otherwise blank paper and sighed. The others all knew what they wanted out of life, even before coming here. Truth was, all of them would've been fine. Adrien struggled with the idea that, maybe, the reason he had nothing drawn on his page was because he was worth nothing more. Perhaps, he thought, I was meant for a life of obscurity.

He slammed the book shut and tossed an eraser at Indigo.

"Gerber! You might wanna go to bed, yeah?"
